Yea. How much of that goes on, you think? I mean, if the series is safely within your team's grasp, wouldn't it be tempting to throw a "close" game just to gross an extra $900K in ticket sales (not to mention sales of drinks, food, parking etc.)
Good, sobering post. Should be a tough battle. Not much to analyze any more. Just hope to get at least one in Utah.

In theory, yes, but in reality, it would require the cooperation of too many people...it's likely that someone would talk...and the resulting scandal would destroy that team and cause irreparable harm to the NBA. Lawsuits would fly. It's not worth it, IMHO.
Damn -- this is a complacent board. Spurs fans are way to smug these days. No sellout in Game 1; convinced that a sweep in SLC is imminent, despite recent Spurs' history. Discussing the next off-season already.
Wow.
1.
Yes heaven forbid we be optimistic.
You guys wanna be pessimistic worry worts, go ahead
Myself, Im rooting for a sweep so that i don't miss anymore games, and have and would be able to purchase Spurs gear monday night.
I leave for the summer tuesday![]()
There's a fine line between optimistic and complacent. There's more than optimism brewing here. It's wide-scale complacency.
Spurs fans were optimistic that the Spurs would get Game 1 in Phoenix, get Game 3 in San Antonio, get Game 6 in San Antonio. Spurs fans are, I think, complacent about this series -- I hear more and more that Utah has no chance and that this is going to be over quickly. I don't think the 2005 Sonics were a better basketball team than this Jazz team -- I'm not yet sold that the 2007 Spurs are better than the 2005 Spurs. And in that combination of things, the 2005 Sonics were able to take the 2005 Spurs to 6 games and came extraordinarily close to taking that series to 7.
My point is that the board is fixated on things that have virtually nothing to do with this series. Reminiscences of times and things past. Looking forward to free agency and the draft. Very little concern for what's in the here and now. Even if most of the gang are extremely optimistic, I find it curious that there's so little discussion of this series.
As per Scott ING Padgett. A guy that can't even make the Memphis Grizzlies 12 man active roster.
The thing to remember is, the Spurs have corporate knowledge of their history. Most of them have been there the last few years and seen exactly how they have handled this "up 2-0 and going on the road" situation. They are talking about it fervently, right now. Just like they talked about how they lost to Dallas in game 2 last year and didn't want the same thing to happen vs. Utah. I'm sure they are also talking about how hard it is to win in Utah and how much they will have to bring.
If they lose it won't be because they are not appropriately energized and respectful of the opponent.
In the past, the Spurs have had trouble with 2-0 leads. That much is true. However, something is different this year. That's right, with me now:
James White!
Play hard enough to win 3 and 4 but save some energy for later on.
You don't want to lose momentum; it's an awesome chance for the bench to get more playoff minutes; and we cling to the hope of a Bonner sighting or another bench cheerleader coming in to see what it's all about. It's so interesting to see how they react when they're inserted into the 4th quarter/already-been-decided slot.![]()
There's not much to analyze. This team has a bad history of coasting over the last 10 years when they get up in a playoff series, making them play more games as a result and making things more interesting all the way around.
It'd be nice to see them break through the malaise, but I don't have my hopes up.
If this team had any "malaise" it would've shown it in game 2 with a really quick turnaround.
But they played a more solid game overall in that one, than 1!
I think they are a better roadteam than in 05, so thats whats gonna help them here.
They always play well at home. Try reading Tpark, we're talking about what happens when we win the first two at home and go on the road up 2-0. We usually come back tied up 2-2.
No one disputes that they're not a great road team, people just don't like the fact we usually wait until game 6 to show it.
