I guess the Airmen were Soldiers once upon a time...
But yeah a troop is a troop...and there are plenty of Soldiers, Seamen, Airmen, and Marines that deserve our support...
Actually you can do both....
Go to a college with an ROTC program, qualify for a scholarship (4yr, $9K/yr or 3yr, $15K/yr), get the majority of your college paid for, take a regular course load with an additional 3hrs a week in ROTC, go to basic one summer, and then when you graduate you only owe the military a four-year service commitment. And you come in as an officer.

So when he is out I take it your in?
Here's the flaw I see in your argument...
Unless you become a combat medic, you're likely to never be in harms way or be directly affected by the policy of the Commander-in-Chief. As a matter of fact, I would think that someone who disagrees with the CINCs foreign policy would be eager to aide the ailing troops that are "victims" of a so-called "needless war".
No, somehow I doubt you will be joining the Air Force/Army/Navy/Marines in 2008....seems to me that if you really wanted to join and support the troops, you'd have done so regardless of the political situation.

I did serve and our President at the time was worse than the current President. Slick Willy was my Commander In Chief but that smuck was NOT my President....He didn't have the balls to take care of Bin Laden back in the day because he was too busy using his balls banging just about anything in a skirt. Because of Bin Laden....Fellow sailors (USS Cole and The Pentagon) and Brother Firefighters(NYFD) are dead. Thanks Bill Clinton![]()
Wow...sorry for the rant...![]()
Support our Troops!!!!
Let us show our support for these young men and women by bringing them home.
but real support is SAYING you support them, especially in tahoe ribbons
You understand they are in the military, and part of that job isn't hanging out at home training but acually fighting right?
My Bro's 2nd tour of Iraq in Ramadi
Just the daily burning of feces

theres nothing like the smell of burning ....the smell never leaves your clothes....what i would give to burn some .....
Bump...
My guy was sent over to Iraq sometime yesterday. Please keep Tom and the rest of his unit in your prayers. I know that they will be in a really "bad" area, but I don't know where. I had someone who was priveledged to sensitive info and he told me to tell him to keep his head down... the area can get real bad.
I am trying hard not to freak out and keep it together, if y'all could say a little prayer for my sanity...I would appreciate it.
Support our troops!
We're here for you, Rashofan. They're always in our thoughts and prayers.
My friend has been there since last year and hopefully he'll be back at the end of October. It would be nice for him to be home before the Holidays...
Consider it done RashoFan.
We lived next to Fort Lewis in Washington for several years and the men and women that make up our armed forces are to be respected. My kids went to school with their kids, it was so hard watching families apart when a soldier was deployed.
We'll keep Tom (and you) in our prayers, along with all our troops that are so far from home for so long.
No kidding. Where do people get off at thinking the military is for those with low intelligence. The most recent figures I heard has the military rejecting 70% of it's applicants, and that’s after lowering the standards. Does college reject that many?
I was in the Army for 11 years. It pisses me off when people elude to negative characteristics of the military.
May those who have family or friends in harms way take comfort in that we are making a difference. I’ll bet in most cases, those you know are proud of the impact they have with world events today. May God bless them.
Yep, support the few soldiers who are pussies and want to come running home to mommy.
Do you realize how insulting your statement is to most of us veterans?
We bring the soldiers home when their job is finished. Bringing them home before that belittles everything they worked for.

amen
my buddies Rob and Brian constantly tell me, leaving now would piss off a huge majority of the Troops.
They don't care.Do you realize how insulting your statement is to most of us veterans?
They just want life "back to normal"
Even though we should show the planes flying into the buildins and show em collapsing everyday to remind people of why they are doing what they do.
I support the troops. I don't support the reason they're being deployed, though.
Then in reality, you do not support the troops. Your statement is affirming you do not believe in their job. That is not support, but a half-ass smear to those who believe in their jobs.
Our armed forces do what they are ordered to do. I have the utmost respect for those who give up control of their lives to follow the orders of others. That doesn't mean the people giving out the orders know what the they are doing.
God help them all.
I posted these links in the political forum. A blunt reminder of why we are there:

There is a DVD out called "Patriot Act" which is called "a home movie" and done by Jeffrey Ross. He was on a USO tour with Drew Kerry and others, and took 80something hours of video, making a 77 minute movie out of it. There's some funny stuff in the special features of the DVD as well. I'm glad I added this to my collection.
This do entary is a look at the troops in a different light than what any pundit or media shows. It's worth finding this rare DVD and renting or buying it.

Here's to a safe tour for your honey, B!
I'm generally a pacifist. Excuse me for having a moral issue with the constant, vicious cycle of people killing each other...so wanting them to come home safely and in one piece, this is a half-ass smear to them?
