I told my kids I would buy them some type of console this year. I know absolutely nothing about any of them. We have a gamecube and they have their individual nintendo ds. So, what is the biggest difference between the Wii, playstation, xbox? I would rather not have bloody gory type games. Their ages are 5-13. Any recommendations? I hear the Wii is family friendly.

Wii is by far the most family friendly. Its easy for young children to pick up, they have a variety of children and non-violent games, and its about 50 to 100 dollars cheaper than the 360, and about 300 less than the ps3. If I had kids, it would def be the console I purchased.

The WII would be great ... they can play their GameCube games on it and there are really good kid-oriented games. We got my son one for his birthday and he & his friends LOVE it.

I like the boxing the best ... it almost beats DDR as far as exer-gaming is concerned.

I own a PS2 and Xbox 360, but I still go over to my friend's house to play Wii. Very fun to play with 2-4 people and there's so much variety. Definitely get that for the kids.
