! seems to be overlooked here. Not sure why. If the Spurs were going to play a young swingman next season !'s the natural choice.

I don't know if this has been said but....

46 Golden State Warriors -- Carl Landry
47 Washington Wizards -- Carl Landry

You put Carl Landry goin to 2 teams. I guess he is pretty good?

Wow, excellent due-diligence timvp. A couple of thoughts about the 2nd and 3rd tier talent listed. In late 2nd round pick (58) or as FA invitee, here are a couple of guys I like. Mario Boggan, even though he's a tweener at 6'7 240. He's a compe or and his head-to-head battles against Durant and the Horns were epic.

Another tertiary draft prospect is not on your list, timvp. I posted this pic of him earlier in the month. He's also a tough, compe or and leader. There's just something about him that stands out.

Did you see where timvp said he cut and paste that from the SpursTalk mock draft (assuming people there drafted Oden first)?

    THE CRYSTAL BASKETBALL

At 28, the Spurs will use the pick if there is a foreign prospect on the board that they still like. Candidates include Rudy Fernandez, Petteri Koponen and Marco Belinelli. If not foreign prospect they like is on the board, they'll trade the pick with Beno Udrih for a future first round pick.

At 33, the Spurs will pick the best domestic point guard available. Candidates inculde Gabe Pruitt, Zabian Dowdell and Taurean Green.

At 58, the Spurs will pick the a foreign prospect to stash overseason. Candidates include Marko Tomas, Giorgos Printezis and Saúl Blanco.
I would be so stoked if they got Belinelli or Fernadez.

Point does look the way to go with 33 if they don't pick a point guard at 28.

As far as 58 goes hopefully the Bucks find another Damir Markota.

I agree with everything except the PG at 33. I think the Spurs are going for a wing at 33. PG is only selected if Beno is traded because Vaughn is coming back.

Where are you getting some of these assesments from? Spencer Hawes has good hands? Have you looked at his rebounding?
Do you know what "good hands" mean? Well, obviously you don't because it has nothing to do with rebounding.

And uh, nbadraft.net says he has good hands. NBA.com says he has good hands. So does draftexpress.com, sportsline.com and dozens of other sites.

Let me know if you want the links.
Tiago Splitter is a "brute"? He's much more of a finesse player.
Tiago Splitter is 6-11, a brute, and experienced against pro-caliber players.
Daequan Cook is a very good fit on the Spurs? Why? He's an immature gunner, who doesn't put the effort in on D? To quote draftexpress:
He's still a very young player. How many players his age put in effort on D? He'd be a pretty nice pick because he has a lot of untapped potential and would be going much higher if not for a slump at the end of his freshmen season.
Mcguire has character flags? Since when? I haven't heard of any, and there aren't any mentioned on the player thread...

Have you read anything about him?
Negatives: Seriously needs to add strength. He looks like he has the frame to put on more weight, but struggles both defensively and finishing around the basket because of his lack of strength. He lacks a consistent perimeter shot and appears to have no real range from the three-point line. Lacks aggressiveness on the offensive end at times. Scouts say he has some off-court red flags.
If you want to call out timvp, at least know what you are talking about.

    Thanks.

My 2 cents: the Spurs get more than their fair share of credit for international player-drafting prowess, but they've really only gotten 2 "proven" players (Ginobili and Parker). The others are still up in the air

And just think... ESPN charges for this crap.

Man Screw that ESPN insider crap. They want you to pay for reading what some schmuck thinks is going to happen. I can make a educated guess myself.

Problem is I don't see him in this draft unless the Spurs take a chance on a guy with questionable character.
What about the legendary (or mythical) ability of the Spurs organization to take character-challenged thugs and turn them into productive members of society a la Steve Jax?

We need to step up and take Sean Williams and McGuire as part of our duty and obligation as Champions to uplift the image of the NBA

!? Are we talking about the same player? The one with good length, upside, ideal size for that position, and even a "good bubble"?

yeah length nd size is all u need..ive seen this guy play numerous times..he aint bad but..with his size he should get more rebounds first of all..he doesnt dare to make a move and he doesnt really have any skills..i really hope we don't draft him..

I'm going to bet that the Spurs draft someone not listed here with the #58. I can't even get excited about the Spurs draft at all. Even when they drafted guys like Tony and Manu I had no idea on draft night what these guys were capable of. The last draft that excited me was when we got some guy named Duncan. I figure today is for the fans of the wanna-be teams.

J.R. Reynolds would be a steal at 58 for the Spurs, especially if the Spurs want Ginobili to continue to come off the bench.

I listed almost everyone I could find in hopes that I could at least name the player the Spurs draft somewhere along the way.

Chances are that the Spurs still will still find a way to draft someone that none of us have talked about.

timvp had Printezis going to Dallas at #50. Spurs get a rough, tough 6'9" 3-4.
