Spurs can't just have an off season of resigning everyone while teams like the suns and Rockets get better
Ah yes, the Suns signed a veteran swingman who spends as much time in street clothes as he does in uniform. And the Rockets did what exactly?

    Get a grip!

That contract would start around $8M with 8% raises to equal $46M over five years.

I was guessing he'd get $7-8M to start, so it's not astronomical.

$7.5 mil with 10% annual raise off 1st year salary.

Good to see Spurs fans dogging a player they wanted when it appears the team won't land him (though I'm not so sure why so many believe the Spurs are out of the running).

Unless I don't understand the CBA, if he has signed the offer sheet, the matter is now between him, the Bulls, and the Grizzlies. He would be pretty crazy not to sign that offer sheet.

All I see is an offer made, not an offer sheet signed. In any event, I'm not sure why Spurs fans need to run this player down if the team has in fact lost out on him.

I guess every player in the NBA should receive a 3 year, $10 mil contract.

Only if they want to play with the Spurs.

If Nocioni wants a ring he wont sign with Memphis. He'll take less and come here as Bowen's eventual replacement. Claxton went with the money and hasn't even made the playoffs since. Ditto Andres in Memphis.

If the Griz do bring him in, they will have the begining of a nice little team, with Gasol coming back for a full year and the Conley pick up. They could be a low seeded playoff contender

Nocioni is the 3/4 the Spurs need to address their weakness against perimeter oriented bigs. If he's available to the Spurs in this price range they should pony it up.

Well, he isn't going to come for 3 years, $10 mil.

Udrih could go to Cleveland for 1.8 mil trade exception. Barry 5.5 mil, the trade exception 1.8, mil and the rights to Scola could get Nocioni at 7.5 mil first year.

Yeah, some permutation of that could make it happen. Chicago isn't going to land Gasol and at least in a S&T with the Spurs the Bulls will get some value back. Spurs need to bring the offer now.

The sites you mention aren't actual sources of news, they simply provide links. Alright, Hoopsworld does generate news on their own, albeit bogus ones. In this case, you'd think an Argentine newspaper with actual access to the player and his agent would have the inside track on the matter. This is legit.

Nocioni isn't some scrub who'll go anywhere for crumbs to be anyone's replacement in a few years. He surely will take more than just the money into consideration, but he's a professional player and as such he's not going to leave tens of millions of dollars just for the heck of it. So you can expect him to be pretty costly, even if at a reduced price.

It doesn't say anything about him signing an offer sheet.

He can't get 10% raises from the Grizzlies. It's 8% max, right?

Barry & Beno get you close. Barry, Beno + Scola's rights sounds doable. Plus, the spurs should get a 10-15% discount because of no State Income Tax and lower cost of living.

I don't see that as an outrageous offer. If a one-dimensional spot up shooter is worth $24M in Kapono, then Nocioni is easily worth $46M. Probably more if you base it on Kapono logic.

He hasn't signed anything or agreed to accept the offer sheet that I'm aware of...so this isn't really news.

If he DOES sign an offer sheet for that reported amount, I think the Bulls would attempt to gauge his value (at that amount) on the open market in regards to trade.

And it's not uncommon to see the Grizz go above and beyond with this contract. He's a restricted FA and they have to discourage the Bulls from matching....so naturally they overpay.

I agree Phat!! We may be thanking memphis in the future if the Bulls try to trade Noci because they know they cannot match the Grizzlies offer..If there is one team in the NBA who can get a player for a cheaper contract than what is being offered it is def. the Spurs.

yeah, I'd like to see you turn down 30 some odd millions. Some people are so ing hypocritical. First he's everything we need, to address our weaknesses, now all of a sudden he's overrated?

I say good for him. Hopefully we can still offer a desirable package to the Bulls so they'll contemplate matching that offer and S&T him to the Spurs. I don't know how plausible that scenario might still be though. Either way, I'm happy for him
