If the NBA would do the right thing and get rid of the current playoff format, and allow for re-seeding at the start of each round, maybe we could get really good match-ups involving all those teams.

Does anyone really think the Heat are the Eastern favorites next year?
Can I put like a million bucks on them not winning the le? How can they be 8-1? What the could happen that would suddenly make them better than any of the West teams?

The Mavs are literally a Chris Webber signing from being back! OMG I am trying not to get my hopes up but this would be such a nice pickup.

Hmph. I see the Heat as D-Wade and a rotting core. Shaq's performance is liable to fall off a cliff at any day. I would definitely put Detroit and Chicago above them, and have them barely even with Cleveland.
Considering if Miami sign Williams they will have 4 starters under the age of 27. Thats hardly rotting. If it is what would you call our team?

    Boston Celtics 80-1

I would put $50 on the Celts, I think KG is headed that way.

Maybe Bostons odds should be moved to up in Miami's realm in the Leastern Conf. now.

I wish i would have put $20 bucks on the Celtics at 80 to 1 before the KG trade. I'll be their odds are down to 10 to 1 now.

Yeah but they still won't win a championship, not with that lack of a bench ( o Phoenix), so it would still be $10 lost.

I think they still have their MLE and LLE, and you better believe Boston just became a more attractive destination.

Exactly. No way the heat are going anywhere with the team they have.

BTW, aren't gary peyton and Alonzo mourning gone next season? i thought both said last season would be there final one?

How does a team that lost in the first round have a great chance of winning the championship?

These days, it's not about who is ACTUALLY GOOD. It's about who we WANT to be good, and we create this false sense of dominance by the flashy teams (Dallas and Phoenix), despite those teams just having lost in the first and second rounds. Meanwhile, while the Spurs picked up their 3rd championship in 5 seasons, Dallas, Houston, and Phoenix supposedly are a "Threat" to SA next year, and SA needs to get "younger and more athletic", and this was "their last chance to win a le". Houston and Dallas, both holders of homecourt advantage, lost in the first round. Phoenix lost in the 2nd round and twice to the Spurs in the playoffs the last three seasons.

    Come on, gimme a break.

Actually, betting lines mean nothing in terms of the real world. They are designed to have the money come down evenly so that Vegas takes their cut, and the losers pay the winners.

Tied 2-2 in the series with a free game 5 gift (due to suspensions) that you almost lost. You call that a beat-down -- Please. Would love the rematch next year.

Re: Mavs tied with Spurs for best odds to win the 08 le.

    Good, someone has to RISE

Please send to Mavs FO the following (according to this ranking, they might need this info) :

    Larry O'Brien Championship Trophy

    c/o Tiffany and Co.
    727 5th Ave New York, NY 10022-2580

What? They already have this information?
    Oops, sorry, MB!

    ___________________________

“They do a great job of their system and staying true to form,
making big plays in big moments,” Suns coach Mike D'Antoni
told reporters in Phoenix on Thursday. “That's what we're
trying to get. Mental toughness, being lucky, I don't know
    what it is.”

The Spurs, D”Antoni added, just seem to “believe a little
    bit more.”
    “All the time,” he said.
