How is #1 incorrect? It is fact that Adrian Peterson had a Lexus from Big Red Imports for a period of months without securing financing.

Nothing happened of it because Big Red Imports claimed it was "standard business practice"

They still haven't returned my inquiry on how I can get in on that deal.

Well, it was a few weeks, not months.

Second, just go to North Park Lexus, they've let me drive a car for over a week in the past before I've "secured financing". Probably because I can afford their car if I want it... I can't speak for your financial situation, however.

While i'm sure you are able to afford a car, I have a feeling my financing is at the worst, better than a college player on scholarship with no job.

How much money you think it takes to lease a Lexus? $399/month it can be yours. While it may not be responsible, it wouldn't be much of a stretch for a college kid to get one. It is against NCAA violations for mommy and daddy to lease a car for their son?

Who knows what the situation was, but it is presumptuous to say that it wasn't a standard business practice.

And yes, I realize daddy was in jail at the time...

I might tend to agree, but with the owner of the dealer being a huge financial donor to the OU athletic department, the whole thing smells fishy.

Also keeping in mind as you said, daddy was in jail, he's a football player without a job and with little time for one, and mommy not very well prepared to offer a lease. When I was in college, $400 month was a lot - and I had a part time job.

I thought Ricky drove a Land Cruiser that he got/bought/was gifted with his Phillies signing bonus. Not that he was a virgin to alumni support or anything, just making a PSA. Our rich crooked alums are better at hiding crap than those rich crooked ers at OU.

Ten years later, our guys get paid in guns and weed. Or for the God-fearing unamused types, envelopes full of cash that don't require a 1099 or a W-4. You get the picture. That's harder to keep track of than non-work at a prominent car dealership in the sprawling metropolis of Norman.

Nobody's clean, but having stupid alums definitely muddies up whatever bed you're sleeping in.

Every single major D1 program, if not every single D1 program is guilty as of paying off the players. The difference is most of them are smart enough not to leave a paper trail. Why have the players work at your dealership at all? Just give them the damn money in cash under the table in a back alley at midnight and leave it at that.

jesus. ricky had a baseball contract. same with cedric benson. they were paid amateurs through a professional contract with mlb. this also allowed them to be walk-ons if i'm correct.

Exactly - everybody D1 program cheats in every money sport. So nobody should be piling on OU too much here. Nothing is going on there that's not going on at UT, A&M, UNL, or even my beloved KSU (although probably on a smaller scale). But when you get your hand caught in the cookie jar, you have to pay the price, otherwise there is no point in having rules...so the real villain here is the NCAA.

, KU has a do ented case of widespread academic fraud in their football program (which in my opinion is far worse than paying the players), and it still barely registered with the NCAA. If you're not willing to throw the book at the Fighting Manginos, then you don't have any cajones left whatsoever.

Oklahoma doesn't have deep talent for football, so they take all their players from Texas.
and that just speaks volumes for how good we are at recruiting talent. what does that say about TU if we are recruiting the best out of their own state?

your right, the state of Oklahoma has nowhere near the talent of football that Texas has, but what do i care? i live in Texas anyway
