I can see how the Charger will be successful with Norv Turner as Head Coach, being that he was extremely successful at Washington and Oakland.
Not sure if you remember this. But I found a link on what Denver did.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...2004Sep17.html
From the story.
The penalties imposed Thursday on the Denver Broncos for violations of the league's rules regarding the disclosure of deferred compensation to players and the salary cap were the second sanctions against the team for similar infractions in less than three years.
In December 2001, the Broncos were fined $968,000 and lost a third-round pick in the 2002 draft for violations reportedly relating to $29 million in deferred payments to quarterback John Elway and running back Terrell Davis.
On Thursday, the league announced that the Broncos have been fined $950,000 and will lose a third-round selection in next year's draft for cir venting the salary cap between 1996 and '98. The penalties were set in an agreement between the league, the Players Association and the Broncos and resolve a case against the team brought before the sport's special master by the NFL's Management Council in January 2003, the league announced.

Washington and Oakland had the equivalent of a WNBA roster.
Dielman didnt get the Pro Bowl last year, but he definetly will get it this year..
same with Castillo.
i took mcneil for granted last year... what a great young LT
San Diego Chargers: The Chargers are scary good when it comes to pure athletic talent. With RB LaDainian Tomlinson, QB Philip Rivers and DT Jamal Williams, they also have enough leadership to overcome what coach Norv Turner might lack in that department. The Chargers must remain focused through a difficult first two weeks. They open at home against Chicago and travel to New England.
Chicago's weakness is Rex, and the Pats is one game I definetly wont be missing...
1-1, at the least(damn Pats.....but all those Wr's, vs our secondary...)
Turners Redskin team went 10-6 and won their first playoff game in 1999.
Same as Belichicks tenure in Cleveland.
2 years in Oakland were a disaster for Turner, granted.
42-55 is Belichicks record after 2000, his 1st year going 5-11 in New England.
2001 was the bull tuck rule that gifted the Pats the win over Oakland.
While Belichicks record since then has been great and he is a great coach, he's had plenty of help, ie dumbass Martyball giving him a playoff win last year.
So lets see what Norv does from here on out, just as Belichick has done since 2000.
Sanity Annex are you going to attend any camp days?

Trying to compare Turner to Belichek is about the funniest thing I've ever heard
I'm glad it's penetrated your dome since their records and situations in Cleveland and Washington were very similiar.
Check back in three years.
Also week 2 this year.
Belichek made the playoffs in his 4th year with a squad
Norv took 6 with money to spend and players
And Bills second stop he created a powerhouse
How did Norvs 2nd stop go?
Pssssh.
Ya I'm sure Bilicheck would have created a powerhouse in both Washington and Oakland.![]()
Daniel Snyder did not take over until 1997.
For that matter how has it gone for Joe Gibbs so far with "money and players"? Yeah he must suck as a coach too. Along with Joe Torre of the Yankees. You know, because he sucked before joining NY.
Joe Torre? Your reaching man
Synder took over in 99, but you were close
And I guess Norv getting a team 3 years removed from a Super Bowl win to the playoffs was a little to much to ask for him huh?
At least Gibbs made it back to the playoffs in his 2nd year with the one of the worst GMs in football.
Am I?
Joes three stops prior to the Yankees:
286-420 Mets with zero playoffs. 4th 5th or 6th (out of 6) each year.
257-229 Atlanta with one 1st, resulting in 0-3 in playoff.
351-354 St Louis. Zero playoffs.
Atl sucked before and after Joe. Joes Atl record was the best for that era.
St Louis won the division the year after Joe left. 1996.
Norv was not my 1st choice. Whether or not he sucks in the playoffs lets let the future games decide it.
I onnly said your reaching by bringing baseball into it when we are talking about football, you cant even compare the coaching duties and responsibility's in the two sports
LMAO!
nice thread John.
And Yea I dont see the Broncos winning the division.
I'm still sticking with the Broncos
and Javon spoke for the first time since last year today![]()
bump
Have at it SA
at Ron Rivera calling Rex Grossman a "mental midget".
![]()
The Pats will lose to the Chargers now that everyone will be watching them and they can't cheat.
They'll lose anyway because the Chargers are a top 5 def with talent at mostly all positions... when I think of talent at all positions, the NY Jets do not come to mind.
Don't believe the hype.
calling Grossman a mental midget is the understatement of the century.
Randy Moss hasn't done against the Chargers. I expect them to bump him hard off the line and have Brady throwin under pressure all day. Don't expect another stellar performance from Moss on Sunday.
That's alright we still got Welker underneath.
Anyways, this is Donte Stallworth's week to make the big catches.![]()
