live action is just not the way to go. you could make kick ass, faithful, animated movies with high profile voices at a fraction of the cos and the comic nerd lobby would go in droves. look at how much the clone wars cartoons kicked ass vs the new star wars movies.

DC has tons of characters they could make movies out of, but a little uknown fact is that DC doesn't appeal to people as Marvel does. DC is OLD SKOOL so the generation that liked DC comics -- they're all dead, some people still like DC, but they only know two characters: Batman and Superman. I guess you could say that Marvel is for all the kids who blindly go and watch anything during the summer and DC's main audience is too old for them to a make a movie out of.

which shows Green Lantern in costume only for the first ten min and then he gets caught and put in a maximum security prison with some of the b and c list DC villains he put their the villains will not be in costume and will use their real names so now Oliver Queen has to survive and even team up with some baddies to try and escape and clear his name

this sounds HORRIBLE and I like Goyer, but his track record of late has not been good.

Superman can pwn every superhero even Batman he is the perfect superhero which makes him a tad boring story line wise you'd have to put him up against Doomsday in order for the plot to be kick ass

DC characters are kind of hard to translate to movies because the origins of the characters are kinda far fetched. Look at Green Lantern it would be hard to present his origins as realistically as possible and if you stay true to the source material you'd alienate people in the audience.

I think Cat Woman made it hard to make any DC character other then Batman and Superman bankable. They cant even get Wonder Woman off the ground.

You do mean the comics right because if you are talking about DC movies vs Marvel movies then Marvel slowly rapes DC and then squirts their load all over DC's face the first two Spider-Man movies alone made a combined 1.5 billion dollars and while spiderman 3 got alot of criticism it has made over 800 mil worldwide and don't forget about X-men which has also done well DC really only has Batman and Superman they are even going to make a Teen ans movie just because they are scrambling to find good enough heroes to make movies off of

that is one of the main reasons why DC hopes that Chris Nolan does Batman justice which he has so far and that is one of the reasons why DC has given Bryan Singer a second chance to make a more action Superman movie

Fantastic four 2 looks pretty cool and have not seen it yet so i'll consider it good

So NOT COUNTING SPIDERMAN AS THE OUTLIER, marvel has a bunch of mediocre movies, not based on revenues, but in terms of how they portrayed what they were supposed to show, DC's characters seem to transfer into movie format more comfortably than X-mens. Like E20 said, they jammed so much crap into the Spiderman movies to make the viewer immersed in the world, it was just stupid. In fact, all these stunts like that, including x-men movies overloading every movie with too many superheros to develop properly in a 1.4 hour movie, are ripping off Burton's Batman Returns, which actually included just enough villains/heroes to pull it off well. Every character was related to and developed.

These new comic movies suck balls for the most part, and are feeding off a movie industry that has had like bad movies for almost 6 or 7 years straight and kids who never even kept up with the comics before 1999.


btw, catwoman did blow too. naturally.

Downey is perfect for the role becasue Stark had an alcohol and drug addiction. And, (guess what???) Downey is comming off of all that bull . He's going to bring a sense of realism and believability to the movie.

Batman, in the JLA comics, speacially designed a suit for cases where other Krypotonians would arrive or Superman goes berserk and it's made of Kryptonite crystalline fibers(I dont' know how that works, but it's a comic) and it's basically the exact same suit, except it's made out of kryptonite, so Batman > Superman. In fact Batman is the face of DC comics. DC used to stand for Detictive Comics and the original Batman series in the Late 30's was called Detictive Comics and one of Bat's nicknames is "Detictive". Superman was included in the face since his popularity rose as being 'Super'. And Captain Marvel >> Superman, because the only other weakness of Supes, besides Kryptonite, is magic and Capt. Marvels power is magic based. And there are probably only 5 regular heroes in the Marvel universe that could hold up and contain Superman.

So what you are saying is that DC's characters seem to transfer into movie format more comfortably in terms of how they portrayed what they were supposed to show well again I have to disagree with you while Marvel movies follow the origins, I can't say the same thing about DC movies look at the past Batman movies they ranged from good to awful they did not follow the origins Bruce's parents were never murdered by the joker and Bruce was never a recluse The Penguin was never a ink spitting raw fish eating mutant and catwoman never had 9 lives that she got from alley cats licking and biting her wounds Robin's family was not killed by two face in fact Grayson was a mere 13 to 15 years old when he joined Batman and finally Bat Girl/Barbra GORDON was Jim Gordon's daughter not Alfred's niece

Sure I just named the old Batman movies as an example but believe it or not that's all it took to make people lose faith in DC why do you think it took so long to find a director for Batman no one wanted to continue with the old franchise and if their ever was a director that wanted to take on the project they wanted to make an R rated batman with a black Alfred named Big Al who adopted a homeless poor Bruce Wayne even now DC has trouble bringing their characters to film it’s no mystery why so many great actors are in marvel superhero films marvels characters are just better and more popular now,

just look at whats next for marvel films Iron Man (with Robert Downy Jr. and Jeff Bridges as Obadiah Stane aka Iron Monger and Terance Howard as James Rhodes aka War Machine ) The Incredible Hulk (with Edward Norton and Tim Roth as Abomination ) A Nick Fury movie (that will spin off from Iron Man) Captain America, The Avengers, Spider-Man 4,5,and 6, Wolverine, and Magneto
