Yeah, Gramatica lost that game. If he had tried to tackle Jordan Babineaux at all, Romo would have scored. Two huge chokes within seconds of each other.

At least all you Cowboys fans can laugh at inconvertible when VY breaks his throwing arm on the first drive of Week 1. Madden Curse is going to be in full effect.

  2. #27
I actually pull for VY living in Austin most of my life, but anyone that says they dont like the Cowboys becuase of their coverage was probably never a Boys fan, they have been this kind of coverage before I was born

And I still blame Parcells for that Saints ass raping

While I can see us laughing at him for various reasons, for me personally it won't be for that. I like VY.

I like VY too but he was stupid to do the Madden cover and then openly say he's not afraid of the curse. He's just asking to jinx himself.

There are some teams that I don't like because the media jerks them off all the time, like the Suns and Lebron in the NBA. And growing up in SA, I don't feel like I owe it to anyone to be a Cowboys fan. I'm loyal to the Spurs because that's all I had to look up to growing up. Plus I vacationed in Indy a few times when I was in high school, got to go to the RCA Dome and go on the field and stuff. I hate it when people call me a bandwagoner because I buy league pass and watch all the games. I already have tickets to the season opener in Indy against the Saints. I doubt any Peyton bandwagoners are going to spend almost $1000 just to see their favorite team raise a championship banner.

Cowboys are just one of those teams that gets a lot of press. Even though I hate Dallas it's a good sports town. And with Parcells and TO going at it all year, why wouldn't that be all over TV. I thought most of it was pretty good entertainment, especially the TO "suicide attempt".

I can totally understand the hate for the Boys. My dad was a diehard fan, and used to take me to games, buy me jerseys and what-not, so it just seemed natural to root for them (same with the Stros). I hate every other thing Dallas, so I guess it is wierd how much I love them, but I guess its just embedded in my dna or something

I am with you on the Spurs and for me, it was the same way with the Cowboys. The Oilers were there too and I did like them until they moved, but the Cowboys were special to me as a kid.

You are right, IMO, as well about not being a Cowboys fan. Just because you grow up in a certain area does not mean you are obligated to root for the team that others around you root for. You root for a team because you have some attachment to them. It could be geography, family, their style of play, their players, anything. , I had a GF in 7th grade who liked the Steelers because of their colors!

The media thing is puzzling. I understood it when Dallas was winning SB's but now? Don't get me wrong, as a Dallas fan I enjoy it though. However, having been on the media side I understand that they go for what gets attention. For some reason ESPN feels that the Cowboys still garner a lot of attention. I would imagine its mostly TO but it can't be just him. Their target demographic is 18-35 and 35-50 year olds..mostly men and in that order. To those groups, the Cowboys are still popular...not necessarily well liked, but popular. As with other teams with historical success, there are just as many, if not more people interested in that team's failures as there are in that team's success. Still, I think if you win the le, you deserve the most attention.

    Just a thought.

While I don't personally believe hate belongs in Sports, I agree with that. I like the Rangers and the Stars but not the Mavs.

I think its maybe the fact that my mom is from Texas and my dad is from New Jersey and is a Jets fan and she once told me(not surprisingly after their divorce) "No way in is my son rooting for a team up north!"

Yeah my dad played ball in high school and college, but his side of the family is from Florida so I was always getting T shirts from The U and Dan Marino jerseys when I was a kid. Even though I really didn't give a about the Dolphins, free jerseys are still cool. My dad actually took me to a Cowboys game a few years ago when they played Miami...I didn't wear any Miami because I was an Indy fan by then, but my dad and some drunk got into an argument after the game b/c Miami won...that was pretty funny. Then me and my homeboy went to a Spurs-Mavs game in Dallas and the Mavs lost and he got made fun of by Mavs fans...Can Dallas sports fans not handle losing a game?

My stepdad was a huge Cowboys fan and he tried to convert me, but I hated that . So I would always wear my Florida stuff just to piss him off.

That is where I have a problem. Root for whoever you want to, but don't try and make me do the same or feel bad for who I root for.

Sadly, I had some friends who got thrown at them for wearing Eagles stuff in Texas Stadium. There weren't talking trash to anyone and in fact got along well with the people right next to them. Also, I know of someone who went to a Mavs-Spurs playoff game last season and her 14yo daughter was spit on for wearing a Spurs t-shirt. You get a few drunk assholes who ruin it for everyone and that can be at any arena or stadium.

I think the biggest challenge I've had to deal with as an Indy fan was the AFC championship this year, because my roommate was a Pats fan. Also, my girlfriend at the time was from Boston, and she refused to watch the game with me. So I'm watching the game with my roommate and during the whole first half she is sending text messages to me, most of them are just stupid like "hahaha omg this is so pathetic!"

My roommate goes back into his room at halftime and is like, this game is over, etc.

I got the last laugh in the end!

Cowboys fans around campus are usually pretty cool...I used to wear my Peyton jersey a lot but then I'd get people saying "Hey Peyton Manning what's up!" so I started wearing Marvin and bought a Vinatieri last season. I talked a lot of before the Cowboys and Colts played in the reg season last year and got ripped pretty good after that one.

This is like saying the Boston Celtics are hot because they won a bunch of championships back before half the people on this board were even born. The Cowboys haven't done in like, what 12 years? I'd say that's been down for a long time. And if by some Act of God the Cowboys get past the wild card game, they're still going to get prison raped by the Saints like last season.
And you know this how? Because they did this last year. The Eagles ed us in 2004, yet we swept them in 2005. Just because you beat a team one year, doesn't mean we will do so the next. This is the salary-cap era and free agency era NFL. Predicting like that is unlikely to become true nowadays. And quit acting like the Cowboys are that far away from winning the NFC. The conference is still wide-open.

But the Cowboys are use to winning. I'm very sorry if you don't believe this, but it's true. Winning is part of the Cowboys tradition but we are in a down period. Won't stay there for long. The Lakers went how many years w/o winning a championship? The Yankees went how many years w/o winning a championship? we went 15 in years between championship 2 and championship 3. I think this little 12 year stretch is actually very normal for winning franchises.

The Colts are going to get attention.

The Cowboys are a team that you either love them or love to hate them. You may not care about the Cowboys. But you do have an opinion of them. And certain teams in certain leagues brings this aura with them. It doesn't help that the Cowboys MAY have the largest fanbase in all of the NFL.

It's exactly why I love this thread made by Hostile on the Zone.

You almost described me with that post. Looking at pictures of me when I was a kid, you'd think the only shirt I had was a number 12 jersey. Cowboys fans are annoying. I didn't know that when I was five.

its very perplexing to see how ignored the spurs are, then turnaround and root for the NFL team that gets "laker" type attention......yuck.

The Cowboys have been coined "America's Team".

    Live with it.

    Generalize much?

A lot of Cowboys fans are just like other fans...they root for their team and that's it. Like every other fan base, there are Cowboy fans that are jerks. There are some that I don't even want to be around and I have rooted for the Cowboys since the 70's. Apparently the ones you have been around fall into the jerk category....that sucks but it is not indicative of the entire fanbase.

I also like living in an era when my favorite teams have won all their championships, not growing up by having family or friends try to get me onto the bandwagon. I am going to look back on this era of my life and be like, damn, this was so cool. Especially the Spurs stuff since I'm SA native.

sorry man but you said it yourself..

even without Parcells coaching, would that have helped contain reggie and stop Brees from having his way with the Boys secondary?

    my answer=no

  23. #48
I haven't been a fan of the Cowboys since Duane Thomas was fired. I loved him back then.

    My Boy!!!

Romo didnt lose that game, Terry Glenn's fumble and the ref overturning a jason Witten 1st down with no evidence lost that game
Why Romo's fumble gets so much attention and Terry's fumble doesn't is beyond me. The Cowboys had the game pretty much in hand when Terry fumbled that ball and the Seahawks got that safety then touchdown on the next possession. Even though the Romo fumble was big, with the way the Cowboys defense was playing, even if they would had been able to convert that field goal there's no guarentee that the defense would have been able to hold.

WHatever dude, most fans of most teams think their team have a chance year in and year out, why would it be any different for Cowboy fans?
Because other teams aren't coached by Wade Phillips.
