bruce never got the "big" payday with his contracts in the league. if this works out, he could be on rich dood. since he owns the land and building, he stands to make substantial rental income in addition to the income from his retail enterprises. i love to hear the success stories rather than the criminal stories that innudate on a daily basis in the media.

Obviously, this is Spurs' news. This at least suggests that the Bowens will stay in the area, rather than returning to Miami in a few years. This also means that Bruce will be reinvesting the money he made in San Antonio back into the SA community.

I'm all for people who made all of their money as personal income learning how to manage it when the paychecks stop. Too many don't, whether athletes, entertainers, or artists.

Lastly, this will create at least 50 new jobs in SA. Granted, they are service jobs, not technical or manufacturing jobs, but something is better than nothing.

That's a neat investment. I am excited to go check out their shops. Congrats Bowens.

My understanding is that the salespeople trip you as soon as you come in the store.

Yardley Bowen will open Cielo boutique on September 17, 2007. Cielo will feature women’s clothing and accessories. Some of the clothing lines that will be available at Cielo include Tracy Reese, 12th Street by Cynthia Vincent, and Mint. Cielo will also carry Habitual and Ernest Sewn denim.

“We will carry a wide-range of high-end trendy clothing,” said Bowen. “We’ll work hard to present clothes and accessories that are stylish and chic while still being reasonably priced. The personality and environment of the boutique will match the style of our clothing. It’ll be an inviting space that’ll be fun, not stuffy. We’ll do everything in our power to assure that our customers will enjoy their shopping experience in Cielo.”

The 2,200 square-foot Cielo was designed by Bowen along with San Antonio architect Mark Morkovsky. The boutique has many unique features, including four custom designed over-sized fitting rooms.

The Bowens purchased a three-acre piece of property three years ago and have developed it into the Valencia Village de Inwood shopping center. The shopping center is currently home to Cielo, WineStyles, Anytime Fitness, and Yardley’s Salon and Spa, which is due to open in November.

The 30,000 square-foot shopping center is located at the corner of Bitters and Huebner.

Too often we just think of NBA players in terms of their stats and what they do on the court. Its actually quite refreshing to learn more about BB's non-basketball ventures. The NBA should consider highlighting success stories like BB tto help broaden the public's perception of the NBA and its players. My admiration for this self-made guy continues to grow. More power to you Bruce.

    Two other notes:
    1. Glad that it seems like Bruce may hang here in retirement. They seem very "hands on" and I don't think they would remote manage their business from Miami.
    2. Glad Malik is getting some business advice this time around.
