It took Pop and the Spurs a few years to decide not to chase that holy grail that means absolutely nothing. The best record, the #1 seed, the division championship.

Better to have the players rested and healthy and not care about those things and then bring the one trophy home that actually means something.

I guess AJ has caught on. Seems like he is a quick study. I think this move and at ude will actually improve the Mavs as a team in the overall scheme of things. Not that the Spurs need them to improve any. I know it has seemed like Dirk folds every postseason, but we can't count on that either.

I would like to see another Spurs v Mavs in the conference finals this year. Should make for some must see TV.

Pop has to be a little more concerned about keeping his roster fresh for the postseason than AJ.

The downfall for the Mavs in the last postseason was due, first and foremost, to the matchup. Nellie did the same thing over a decade ago to a Larry Brown (HOFer)-coached Spurs team.

Pop will have had 2 years to come up with a better strategy against the Mavs than starting Michael Finley at the 4. Maybe this time he will figure out how to beat that 'horrible' coach Avery Johnson.
