That said, I have high hopes for Bonner this year ... even though I don't think his true coming out party will be until the 2008-09 season after Horry retires.

i read today in the dallas morning news that horry may receive an offer from the Mavs for two years after this season though

I like his hustle off the bench last year and was disappointed when he got hurt. Hopefully he will be able to contribute more this season and spell Horry on a more consistent basis. That would be a big plus. He's had his one year learning period that seems to be the norm with most new Spur players.

As for his defense all I would like to see right now is his gettting the rotations down and playing within the team concept and not really being the one-on-one defender. That would be great if he became a good individual defender but not a requirement at this time IMO. Concentrate on hitting the 3's and crashing the boards. If he does that then the 9 mil will be justified.

Bonner should be the first or second big off the bench for the first two months of the season. Only then can his progress be properly evaluated.

I like his hustle, intensity and range, and now that he's been here for a year his defensive rotations may have improved. That's what we need to find out, and that's why he should take most of Rob's minutes early in the season.
