Beno stopped improving at that point and the world has been steaming past him ever since.
Beno started sucking right after all-star break of his rookie year. Teams learned his game and he was no longer effective.

Agree. A lot of rookies hit the wall, partly because the league catches on to their limited game. Then they either have the talent and work ethic to add on to their game and succeed or they don't. Don't know if Beno had the inate talent but he clearly didn't have the work ethic.
The Beno bashing has become so commonplace here, that I was starting to feel bad for him.... until I remembered what a gigantic piece of crap he has become out of what was so promising of a rookie season. Of all my years of watching basketball, I can't remember a player who was so outstanding for half of a rookie year and then hit the rookie wall, and never even attempted to get back up. I swear I thought he was going to be better than Parker.
My gut feeling on Beno is that he realized that he was going to get guaranteed money for 3 years no matter how hard he worked. He never had any incentive to improve his game, and he wasn't going to start over Parker. Why should he go to the gym and work on his ball handling when he could go mack on little mexican hotties, eat Taco Cabana, and post gay pictures of himself on Myspace? He was going to make the same cash either way.
Beno has the oppurtunity of a lifetime playing in the NBA. He has talent, but no desire to play or try/compe ivness. He's a waste of talent, someone give me his talent.![]()
Beno is much more talented than Jacque Vaughn. Vaughn has no business being ahead of Udrih in the rotation, but such is the case. Why? Because Vaughn is a professional and is diligent about working on his game while Beno would rather be spending a Night at the Roxbury (or whatever its equivalent is in SA). Oh, and Beno's a big ing pussy.
The Spurs would be somewhat better if Beno really cared.
more incentive than play in a champs team? I don't know why but Popovich or RC never encourage Beno to be more professional.
Please do not compare Beno to Rasho.
It is so unfair to Sho!
If only Beno had Radoslav's sense of professionalism. I was no fan of Radosoft, but he was committed to the team and his role as best I could tell.
I agree. Rasho was soft but a hard worker and professional.
Beno is a maggot
actually, he was somewhat vital in 2004-2005 season during a road game @ Phoenix when Spurs made huge comeback mainly thanks to Ginobili....Udrih actually hit some 3's and made a couple of good defensive plays. I remember this, b/c he hasnt done jack since then....lol
