Yeah I don't think the Spurs want a defensive minded, shotblocking PF right now. I'm determined there's a place in the league for him though. Maybe Sac (who wanted him before he went to Cleveland).
Especially if the Justin Williams situation goes south.

I don't see Noel's having to stay in the D-League much past the showcase at the most.

    No sweat.

Noel will go down average 18 and 10, block 2 a game, and get signed up by a team needing frontcourt help.

No worries Kori. I didnt want to get that Cleveland jersey anyways

This doesn't have anything to do with the Spurs. So ignore it.

It doesn't involve Scola so you'd probably stop reading by the 7th word.

It's just a question of where this Felix guy ends up.

6'9'' word class athletes that can jump out of the gym with low post skills, good work ethic, intelligence, unselfishness, and good range usually get picked up.

My guess is the Hornets or Clippers give him a try.

He barely got any playing time in Maccabi because the coach (who since got fired) was a joke.

True, he's pretty consistent from outside now. But his niche in the league is going to be defense and shot blocking.

8-9 NBA teams were interested in him after summer league this year. Maybe he just picked the wrong team to go to camp with.

Sometimes when guys don't make the league (or do make the league), it's all about timing.

There's a lot of talented guys who aren't in the NBA (yet) and a lot of other guys who are worse players than them who are playing in the league. Sometimes people get lucky while others get unlucky.

    We'll see what happens.

This journey is providing a great learning experience for him and it will only make him better once he finally finds a home. It sucks in the meantime, but he'll probably really appreciate it more, i.e. Bruce, when he finds the right place.

I want Noel to play here. If I owned the Spurs, I so would have signed him already.
No offense, but if you owned the Spurs, I shudder to think of the roster.

Just out of curiosity, Kori, how many times a day do you think about the fact that a guy who busts his ass like Noel can't get a job while Beno Udrih was pulling a guaranteed contract the last three years?

What do they tell Noel he needs to work on?

What do they tell Noel he needs to work on?
Today, they didn't tell him he needed to work on much of anything. They just said that they know he'll be in the league this year - they'll try to help him find a place on another team, etc.

In general, over the last two years, teams have had him work on extending his range, working on specific moves in the post, etc. Personally, what I had him work on in the last few years is being more aggressive offensively (he's used to being relied on as the defensive anchor - not as big offensive option) and staying active on the glass.

Now, he has some very nice moves now - he has a very good drop step that has shocked me a few times, he has a nice baseline spin move that he uses to get free and to the rim. He is pretty diverse in the post offensively. Defensively, his timing on block shots is really, really good. He's always been able to block shots (he averaged like 5 a game in high school). But his timing and vision for blocks is exceptional now.

I mean, if he never makes it back to the league again, then eventually he will be okay anyway. He made it for a short time in Seattle and he even blocked a Yao dunk - not many people can say that. But I really think he deserves a chance. He's good enough and he's a very good guy.

If angel luv owned the Spurs, their core would be Rasho, Beno, Noel, and Bostjan.

Noel's line in tonight's preseason game for Anaheim:

    33:13 min
    3-7 fg
    1-1 3pt
    1-2 ft
    3 reb
    5 pf
    5 to
    3 blk
    8 pts

Looks like Steven Smith and the guards are doing all the scoring. The good news is he's probably going to get a lot of playing time.

, they could use one when they move Duncan over to the 5 in a small ball lineup. If they had one, perhaps they might finally be able to beat the Mavs.

I know, I know. For that to work, he'd have to be able to spread the floor with 3-pt range. I get it. It was just a joke.

Yeah, I talked to him for a while on his drive back. He had a tough time with the moving screen call tonight. He had five blocks in the previous exhibition scrimmage. So he's probably going to do pretty well in that area. He will start and get a big bulk of the minutes.
