My viewpoint is a smart sports fan's viewpoint.

Oden is a guy you try to win championships with. Not, "have a good team", but "win the whole thing". Portland will not win the le this year. The small amount of benefit you get by giving him some experience now is more than outweighed by the risk that he will be playing too early.

Bring him back next year after maximum healing time and you maximize the future chances with him.
    I second that!

Oden's MF surgery was less serious than Amare's. It was a very small area that they performed the technique on. It only makes sense that if it was less serious then recovery time would not be as long. Add to that the fact that GO is a work out freak and I can easily envision a scenario in which he returns this season.
Are you sure about that...all we heard was about how Amare's surgery was less serious than any that had been done before and how small the size of the incision was.

Like I said, I would just expect that he won't play this year.

Amare's a lazy sack of with the IQ of a housefly. Oden will recover quicker than Stoudewhiner did.

I'd expect Sun fan to say that. So what parts am I supposed to believe? The Nash and D'Antoni suckfests? I guess all the parts that out Marion, Amare, & Raja Bell as big-time s are the parts that can't be believed. Only believe the parts that portray Nash as holier than Jesus, right Sun fan?
I believe Amare is the second fastest player to come back from this type of surgery (Jason Kidd is first, I think). If Amare was lazy I don't think he would have been able to play all 82 games last year after one year off. He works his butt off in the offseason also. You are just an idiot who has an agenda against anyone who plays for the Suns. If you want to look at a wussy look at one of your own players (Dirk).

What the ! let them bring him back this year. He won't be able to get accustomed to the NBA in such a short time to make a palpable difference this season, and he'll probably re-injure himself and up a potentially great career... but anything to please dumb ass Portland fans that don't have any patience.

I was just saying exactly what was reported in the book - that the Suns coaching staff and doctors were getting frustrated with Amare's lack of effort during his rehab. They also said that if he worked harder, he wouldn't have suffered with the failed comeback and made things worse for himself. I was stating exactly what was in the book you homer .

Zero sense in rushing him back. , if you hold him out until next year then you can essentially reuse the "Oden's NBA debut" hype and use it to sell the next season. Bring him back this spring and he's just going to look slow and out of synch against guys who have been playing for six months already. Who wants to see that?

Bringing him this season would be the stupidest thing the Blazers could do. I dont see how a reasonable person would think otherwise.

Hey, if he doesn't play until next year, does he qualify for the ROY award?

Yes. If he doesn't play this year he is eligible for R.O.Y. next year.

Well, there's another reason. Those ROY awards are needed for the Blazers' trophy case.
