    spurs big 3, minutes: 96.2

    mavs big 3, minutes: 99.9

and all you've got to show for it is +9ppg and a slightly higher a/to ratio. in other words, nice offense.

    but wait!
    spurs big 3 + 3.38 blocks, 4.24 steals
    mavs big 3 +2.17 blocks, 2.26 steals

we're almost doubling your defensive production, in less time. that has to hurt

Way too early in the season for me to really get worked up about this. Frankly I love the fact that his miutes are down and he is deferring to others. Hopefully this will allow other players to develop faster making us stronger later in the season. But if this continues through our "Rodeo Road Trip" then I will be concerned. I really see this as an aberation rather than a develpoing trend.

Difference between dunking it under the rim and laying it up soft, is that a layup or a tip in has much more of a chance to be blocked or defended against. if you are jumping and throwing the ball through the hoop, has much mroe force behind it, and more of a chance for those block attempts to become and 1's instead of 0's...

i agree, tim has the moves, but is lacking the tenacity the last few games to finish...just needs to get his head on straight sometimes.

I think Tim is en led to a few free passes during the regular season.

As long as he's not injured, Tim will bring it during the playoffs.

En lement or not, he is getting paid millions of dollars to bring it every single night...it isnt out of line for people to question is tactics after seeing a couple of poor showings, that and i think we are used to seeing so much better.

I think Duncan himself is probably not happy with his performance, and looking to change it asap...He is a compe or every single night, and i doubt mentally he was saying, oh im going to slack tonight, cause i can...thats just not how top tier athletes think...

Tim isn't that athletic enough any more to finish strong at the rim anymore against big guys like Turiaf and freak athletes like Kobe.
Yes he is, he had a bad night that is all it was. Watch tape of him against the Suns in game 6 to see proof his movement and athletic ability is just fine. I never saw a guy more active on D for 40 min maybe ever. His movement and ability to finish on offense is fine, he has never been a big dunk guy anyway. You'll see on Thurs against the Mavs he will play a great game.

Why? Is a dunk worth more?

I agree about finishing strong but layup, dunk, it doesn't matter...as long as it goes in.
Of course not. I'm just imploring him to set a tone. Get an "And 1". I just don't want to see my franchise player going "soft" to the hole. Finish strong.

Dallas has a big three? since when?

    TD+TP+Manu = 10 Rings

    Dirk+Josh +Jason =..... well... you know...

go try to shut us down somewhere else... you'll be owned for centuries and the more you try the more it hurts...

let's just talk about Romo and we'll all be friends

First of all the stats prove that your big 3 is not better than ours. You just choose to ignore them.

Secondly, Terry will probably win 6th man of the year this year.

And lastly, the rest of your team, beyond your big 3 is average at best and our bench is as good or better and deeper.

The overall stats show that currently

We Shoot a higher percentage from the field
You shoot higher from 3 pt.
We shoot a higher percentage from the line.
    Rebound the same as yours
    Assist are the same
    You get more steals
    We get more blocks
You turn it over 1 less

We average 102.4 ppg and allow 95.0
You averaage 99.0 ppg and allow 89.8

The stats are pretty darn even. Which is why the games are so compe ive.
Although it should be noted the Mavs have won 9 of the last 15 against you.
And that is what we are talking about this week, a head to head game.

And i appologize for lumping all Spurs fans into the category as arrogant. My wife is from there and she will tell you that only about half are arrogant.

The other half realize that the 2 best teams in the league for the last 5 years are the Spurs and the Mavs and it is a shame that they can't meet in the finals.

I'd like to see how the Spurs squad would fare in today's leauge for about 10 games w/o Duncan, for experimental purposes. Put TD on the I/R for an 'ailment' or 'injury' and see how the team does with Tony and Manu being the main guns. I'd be pretty optimistic actually, probably a 7-3 or 6-4 record.

Tim isn't that athletic enough any more to finish strong at the rim anymore against big guys like Turiaf and freak athletes like Kobe. If Tim plays it smart and can work guys like Turiaf, which he is fully capable of, then he could land himself a trip to the FT line.

Tim is not a freak of an athelete by nature compared to other PF's/C's; the atheleticism he had, has deteoriated with age and his knee/ankle/PF injuries.

Sort of like Kareem, Tim needs to stop going to the power moves which require atheleticism and use more of his fundamentals, footwork, pump fakes and BBall IQ when at the rim.
    Is that you, Pop?

Chill. Duncan has started out slow in seasons and had "embarrassing games on rare occassions for years" but rarely does he ever have two bad ones in a row. There is still no one better despite all the pub Garnett is getting at the PF.

He's been emulating Horry the last few years, with the lazy game before January. A lot of those blocks were also by the help defenders. That attention to Tim opened up the rest of the offense, and we rained 3 pointers on their asses all second half.

If a team is going to totally take him out of the offense this time of year, he's going to let them, and Manu and Tony will rule the day. That won't be the case in the playoffs.
Another intelligent analysis. I have hope for this forum after all!

ok, let me get this straight.... thispego is ignoring the stats, yet when i showed you that our big 3 defensively is >>> yours, while yours is only > our offensively, and you ignored that completely. and somehow, that proves that our big 3 isnt better (nevermind the most important stat, 10 vs 0).

secondly, you pulled that straight out of your ass. why would he probably win the award? is it because everyone in dallas is promoting him, or is it because manu is playing noticeably better? could it be that 7 games into the season, it is impossible to say who will probably win?

and lastly, if your bench is deeper and better and your big 3 is better than ours, than why are the overall stats "pretty darn even"?

sorry to be a jerk but i dont buy that conciliatory tone when the other side of your mouth is saying you have a better team. scoreboard is all that matters, mavs fan, and the spurs have 4 in 9 while your mavs are 0 in 27.

We were killing them. Up by nearly 20 for a lot of the game. Were you not watching? Or can you not count?

Duncan wil go for the and-1s when we need them. Get a clue.

I'm disappointed in how he performed. I consider the Lakers a good team and Duncan shouldn't have played that bad against a good team unless he is injured. Hopefully he bounces back.
