(Leaving the door wide open for Dirk, Golden State, choking, 4 rings, Cuban, etc. comments because we know that's all you've got to fall back on instead of talking about tonight's game and your coach waving the white flag with 3:00 to play)

our teams play the game for one reason: to win a trophy.

so far the spurs have won 4, and in the regular seasons of every single one of those championship years, we lost to another team that had championship aspirations, like your mavs.
now I understand your dislike of talking about the past instead of the current, but do you seriously think tonights game is any kind of indication of who will win it all this year? c'mon

our team has shown the ability to overcome devastating losses like this and go on to win a le, while yours has shown nearly the opposite.

so forgive us for not giving a about your regular season win

Listen when the Spurs play the Mavs it's a toss up...either team can come out so let's stop the one team owns the other crap! The Spurs aren't scared of the Mavs and the Mavs aren't scared of the Spurs.

Great game by the Mavs and hopefully the Spurs show up the next game and help Manu out!
Good post. Different from the "mavs own the spurs", "spurs have 4 rings, we own the chokers" posts.

That was an anomaly. Golden State and Cleveland pulled off huge upsets.

If we win it this year, we will have to face at least two legit contenders or possibly three just to get to the Finals.

Tonight's Dallas victory was the first non-fishy Mavs win over SA in quite some time.

Last year, 3 wins over SA: One in which no foul was called while Finley was attempting a game-tying 3 at the end of regulation. Another in which Bruce Bowen missed a tying 3 at the end of the game, and finally where Crawford tossed Duncan.

That was all preceded by a 7-game series in which one loss was b/c of Duncan getting fouled out for stepping on Dirk (one point loss), and no foul was called on Duncan's put back at the end of Game 7 regulation.

Add all that together and put it with the fact that we left Harris, Howard, and Terry wide open tonight to shoot whatever shots they wanted (Terry, Harris and Howard all outscored Dirk), I can't say that I'm too concerned about the Spurs losing tonight, and no Dallas shouldn't be excited especially when Dirk hasn't shown up to play this season yet, and if you think Howard and Terry are going to carry you to a le then that's some funny .

So congratulations, Dallas on your first REAL win over SA since Game 2 of the 2006 playoff series.
You lost a bet. Why are you posting? Are you just dishonoring a promise like you're supposed to do? No surprises there.

Spurs fans = most insecure fanbase in all of sports.

    And this thread proves it.

I don't see Mavs fans being es and attacking anyone else. I don't see mom jokes pointlessly aimed from this side. I don't see gloating from the ones that have been here long enough to know better.

If the Mavs beat the Lakers, such a small number of their fans pull out the championship count. They understand that the past is the past, they understand that it's just one game and they move on.

I wonder - if 10 years down the road the Spurs don't win another le, will you still play that? If so, that may be the most pathetic sight known to man.

And Sequ - I have nothing to retort to your dumb ass. You've made yourself look like a complete ass in this thread. Grow a ing pair.

Why do Mav fans keep insisting that the Spurs were glad or happy they didn't have to face them in the playoffs and that they should be happy another team did thier dirty work? So if the Mavs beat the Spurs but never played the Warriors or Suns during the playoffs cause the Spurs knocked them out already will it matter to Mav fans that we had do the dirty work for them?

How would anyone on an Internet messageboard know what a player on a team thinks anyway? That makes it bull from the start.

Show it to me and I'll reply.

But until then, still consider that what the fans think is usually totally different from what the players think and should be taken with a grain of salt.

you Mav fans should cool down a lil now... remember you are posting in a Spurs forum... you are just making us more and more important if you keep posting here... for every single post you make... you are just making us bigger and better... means what a great deal we are for you... 4 real... and don;t get me wrong it's not envy... you support a team that was built to destroy us... that does the same adjustments we do... that mirror themselves on us... so i don;t blame you for being here... i still keep my Jordan gear... and have Ben Wallace's poster on my desk at the office always thinking get to know you enemy if you wanna knock him down.. but remember... the more you post... the better we get... just suck this and STFU.. k?

Go check the Spurs REGULAR season record against the Shaq/Kobe Lakers before they met in the playoffs in '02 - and where the Laker unceremoniously swept the Spurs out. This was 2 playoffs AFTER the Spurs beat that Lakers team in the WCSF.

It looked EEEERILY similar to the way this Spurs/Dallas matchup has looked since '06. Dallas beat the Spurs; since then, the Mavs have pretty much controlled the games the teams have played.

However, the teams haven't played ANY meaningful games since that game 7 1.5 years ago.

When the Spurs went into the series against the Lakers, us Spurs fans were CONFIDENT. The Spurs consistently beat the Lakers, controlled Kobe, and kept Shaq in Check. The Lakers had NO answer for the mismatch that was Tim Duncan. We were SURE of it. The Phil Jackson unveiled a different strategy in the playoffs, on the Spurs home court in game 1 of that series. Then, with 2 days to prepare for game 2, the Spurs adjusted and gave a REAL battle to that Laker team - and lost by a bucket at the end. After stealing TWO in SA; the mop up job in LA was a true low point in Spurs history. It was demoralizing, embarassing; HORRIBLE for all involved. Pop learned something that year. If Phil had shown that strategy in a regular season game, Pop would have been ready for it; and that FIRST game in SA would have been a different affair. I

The next time the Spurs and Mavs meet in the playoffs is when we will all see fully what adjustments Pop has made to being beaten by the Mavs in '06. It doesn't make any sense to play that hand before then. Since it didn't happen last year (thanks to GS), it may happen this year. In the meantime, the Spurs and Mavs will continue to play, essentially, pre-season games until then. If Avery is playing these game all out to win - no hods barred, good for him. However, he stands to get taught the same lesson Phil Jackson taught Pop 6 years ago.

Bruce Bowen didn't guard Dirk last night. And by and large, the personnel is largely the same for both teams since the playoff series. In a playoff series, the Spurs will bring more intensity, there will be a few wrinkles here and there that they didn't implement last night, but there is only so much you can do given the matchups and the familiarity the two teams have with each other.

Any series between these two teams is going seven games, and as you guys have room for improvement, so do we. A basketball team is not static from November to May.

    Who the are you?

If you'd take the time to read around, you'd know that fans from around the league are welcome here because it's the most active, well-run board for NBA fans. That, and the Mavs happened to play the Spurs last night. So, there's that.
