I do not think it was intentional- as in he tried to hit him in the face- but I do think it was very careless and dangerous. You just can't do something like that to a totally vulnerable guy in mid-air.

It wasn't a dirty play by Horford. He was trying to anticipate where he thought the shot was going.
Would you be saying that if it was Tony Parker's head snappng back in mid-air from someone hitting him like that when he was totally defenseless? Kobe got suspended for an elbow.

Completely unintentional. The outcome is obviously horrible, but he was simply trying to block a ball.

There is no 'example' to be made in this situation.

If TJ got right up off the floor, there would be no '10 games' comments. You don't delve out punishment based on the severity of the injury.

Prayers for TJ. I didn't see the play and I don't really want to, but I hope whatever Horford did was a play on the ball.

Good night you are clueless. Tony gets hit all the time in midair, and has occasionally gotten hit in the head. This was just an unfortunate play.

I didn't get the feeling that the foul was malicious. It looked nasty as in painful but not intentional.

Extended video. More angles than you want to see.

Also of note-- Sam will surely get a fine.

    Bingo!

This COULD happen everytime someone drives to the hole.

We're fortunate that it doesn't. But when you're playing with these big bodies, and flying in the air, the chance for an ugly injury is there on every play.

I have NEVER seen Tony's head snap back like that in mid-air EVER. That is a bigger concern than hitting his head on the court.

It's being reported that he has feeling in his arms and lower extremities... so kind of good news.

I watched it. Didn't look intentional to me. In case you don't know, play on the ball, means he was trying to go after the ball.

he hit him in the face. it was a dangerous play and completely unnecessary. if you can get banned for 10 games for throwing a little punch, you deserve 10 games for something like this.
He hit him in the face trying to block the shot, with an extended arm. He didn't grab him around the neck or put a body into him. It was an accidental play and part of basketball. If you can suspend a guy for ten games for this then you should just make all defense and physical contact illegal in basketball. I've seen literally hundreds of fouls with worse intentions than this. You don't base the degree of the foul by whether the guy gets injured. I guess Jerry Stackhouse should have been suspended for 20 games when Joe Johnson hung on the rim too long and hit his face on the floor in 2005.

No, the fans are upset because TJ got hurt. If they still think the play is dirty after they look at it then they're just stupid.

I remember Malik hurting his head during ( I think it was ) the 2003 play offs.

He was on the floor for what felt like a very long time. Head injuries are so hard to see and scary no matter what player they happened to, but especially when it is one of your guys.

If it was not intentional, you don't get a flagrant 2. If it was a play on the ball, you don't get a flagrant 2. The refs watched the replay several times to determine that indeed it warranted a flagrant 2.

Do not put words in my mouth. I did not say it was dirty- I said it was careless, dangerous, and worthy of a flagrant 2.

Even Milwaukee's anouncers didn't think it was intentional. I don't know why he was assesed a flagrant 2 but probably just "because". Quit trying to destroy a second player.

You are not accessed a flagrant 2 just "because." The refs are REQUIRED to review the video to determine if indeed it warrants a flagrant 2 and they did. They watched it for some time and made the ruling clearly. Obviously they were right there and they ruled it was a flagrant 2.

A flagrant foul-penalty (2) is unnecessary and excessive contact committed by a player against an opponent.

If he didn't have his head bounce off the floor...and then need a stretcher, I bet it would be less likely that a F2 was called.

The foul was intentional-- the outcome was not. That would make it dirty.
