Both hit like dump trucks, Sanders is a better tackler, Taylor was better in coverage.

    Personal preference really.

You do realize that at this time your grandma can cover better than Taylor? If the want to give him an honorary nod then I'm all for that, but I don't think he should get a spot that keeps someone else off.

    Nice.

Nobody's going to get knocked off. He would get recognized as being [at least] the best safety in the NFC for 10 games this year (players have made the pro bowl playing less games).

Officially, he'd be on the team, but his spot would go to the next guy. Just like if he were injured.

No doubt Taylor was a stud and would have been named to the Pro Bowl for years, but no man is more responsible for the rise and fall of his team's defense than Bob Sanders. The Colts had an embarrassing defense last year, and this year they are ranked third overall. The difference? Sanders has missed only one game this year instead of twelve.

For me, at DE in the AFC, its Jared Allen, Jason Taylor, then Mario Williams. How many get chosen? I forgot.
If you are looking purely at stats, Mario Williams should be chosen before those two. Allen has 5 more tackles than Williams, but Mario has 1.5 more sacks and a fumble recovery and TD on his stat line. He also has 3 more sacks and 5 more tackles than Taylor.

That's certainly true, and would make a strong argument for him for defensive MVP.

But, just because the Washington defense has players who have picked up the slack since Taylor has gone while the Colts defense folds without Sanders is not necessarily indicative of which player is better at their position.

As I said, it's a personal preference, you couldn't have gone wrong with either one.

If you want to get technical about it, they didn't even really play the same position. Sanders is your quintessential strong safety, coming up and providing great run support and laying out WRs on the underneath routes. Taylor was the dominant free safety, playing centerfield and running the deep routes with WRs better than most corners could do so.

I factor stats in of course, but I could care less about 1.5 sacks more. Allen is a stud and has 16 more solo tackles than Williams. I really like the way the guy plays. Taylor may have 3 less sacks than Williams, but he also has an INT returned for a TD, 5 pass deflections as a DE, and 4 forced fumbles, 3 of which were recoved. The man gets it done and is a stud also. I just have Williams behind these 2. , actually I think I like Taylor more than Allen now, lol.

Yeah, we'll just keep going in circles if we continue to talk about this. They wouldn't have even been competing against each other for a Pro Bowl selection anyway.

How did Driver make it over Jennings?

I also thought Tanard Jackson had a better year than Hamlin.

Happy that no Lions made it as none of them deserved it.

  12. #37
Driver got in on reputation, and does draw coverage his way which helps Jennings. But on stats alone, Jennings should of got in. It depends on the voter I guess.

All in all pretty decent Pro Bowl selections this year. Peyton and Jeff are perennials but Super Reggie, Addai and Sanders have had great years and really deserved it. Only Colt that I think should have made it and didn't is Gary Brackett but I see why he was snubbed.

I guess the fact that you yell "you ing suck!" at opponent's DBs when they miss a tackle on you being publicized will cost you some Pro Bowl votes.

I agree completely. I still personally think that Ed Reed and Brian Dawkins are better all-around safeties, but no one is more important to their team's success than Bob Sanders.

Welker has had a good year, but no different than the year Mike Furrey had last year.

Neither deserved to go to the PB.

Dawkins isn't as good in run support as he used to be and Ed Reed - while still capable of making big plays - saw an all around drop-off in his game this year (it'll take the media about 3 years to catch on though...).

No way Tommie Harris should have gotten in. Should have been either Mike Patterson from Philly or Jovan Haye from Tampa.

    How does Umenyoria get in?
