If it's your contention that I have no reasonable expectation of privacy when walking a city street, then there's no reason for me to think that a search of my person or effects would be unreasonable, since the entire basis for protecting individuals from such searches is the effectuation of a reasonable expectation of privacy.

I certainly understand that people can be watched, but that's a far cry from saying that they have no reasonable expectation of privacy.
No, it's not a far cry. What's the difference between me physically following you and me installing cameras on every intersection in a city and following you from the comfort of my living room?

Should private businesses be prohibited from mounting security cameras that might capture images of persons walking along public sidewalks?

Is it reasonable to expect privacy while you have sexual intercourse or commit a crime on a public sidewalk?

Should we all just turn away?

What prohibits me from taking a video of you while you walk or drive down the street?

It think it's more reasonable to expect that my every move, in public, is being recorded on some device, somewhere.

So if there's no reasonable right to privacy when walking a street, then you're saying it's okay for someone to walk down the street with their hanging out of their pants Yoni?

I mean, hey, if a person has no expectation of privacy on a public street, why not let them do as they would in the privacy of their own home.

It's sad that you are defending all this.

No, that's not what I'm saying. In fact, I'm arguing the opposite; I'm not sure how you arrived at that conclusion.

I mean, hey, if a person has no expectation of privacy on a public street, why not let them do as they would in the privacy of their own home.
Well, in your own home, you do have a reasonable expectation of privacy unless you choose to live in a glass house.

It's sad that you are defending all this.
Who said I was defending it? I don't like being watched every step of every day; there's just no justification for saying you have a "right" to privacy in a public place.
