They send you this so-called gift so you can go out and spend to get the ecomony back on track so to speak, when all the while EVERY bill imaginable to man keeps going up! My $800 will be going in the bank along with the rest of the bill money....

it's pretty much the worst thing they can do for the future of the economy because it won't change anything, but I'm not gonna sit on a $800 check in my mailbox..

So I work at a dead-end, barely over minimum wage job, don't pay for taxes besides what's taken out of my check, and the government is just going to give me $800 dollars?

yep all you have to do it file your taxes for 2007 and it seems you will get one. The only people who don't I believe are the top 1% and some families with 4 people. But yeah, if you claim as a single you will for sure get one.

it has nothing to do with what you owe or what they owe you with taxes. This is a seperate thing

it has nothing to do with your tax return, it's a seperate rebate. The only reason it is tied in with the IRS is because they are using your 2007 tax information to see if you quialify, which about 95% of us all do because we are probably not billionaires or very poor (those poor don't file taxes and wont get a check because of that). It's a check you will get in the mail for $800

I pay taxes, I haven't had a refund since I became a freelancer. Not sure this applies to me. I pay taxes because all of my clients pay me as in independent contractor, not because I earn too much to get a refund (boy do I wish). But, if it does come it will be a nice surprise since I am not going to count on it at all.

The White House was pushing for even higher rebates. The rebates are likely to be limited to individuals with incomes less than $85,000 and couples earning $110,000 or less.
