Pop is waiting for that last second shot situation, that is Bonner's specialty
But seriously, if he was doing anything special he'd still be on the court.
Paying Bonner instead of Scola should've costed someone their got damn job. How stupid can you be?

fok off,
i dont want pop to set up last plays for bonner
he cost us 2 games damn it
I don't think we should give up on Bonner. He's proven he can shoot. We should keep him for his 93.8 free throw pct. alone.
Here are Bonner's career three point stats.
He's sort of at the point where he needs to prove he's a killer from the outside.Code:M A Pct. 04-05 Tor 39 92 .424 05-06 Tor 102 243 .420 06-07 SA 36 94 .383 07-08 SA 39 104 .375 CAR 216 533 .405
Here is a thread I started last summer about why we signed Bonner instead of going after a younger more athletic player. I was routinely blasted for questioning the Bonner signing. Now I don't look so wrong.

I find that you are a little too harsh with Bonner.
He is a limited player but he has done some good thing for Spurs. He was playing well in December and he could help Spurs with his ability to stretch the defense.
He is quite bad lately but he hasn't been put in an easy situation. Pop has decided to bench him to play Horry, who, until last week, was arguably the worst player in the NBA.
When Horry will retire or if the last three games are a fluke and Horry has nothing left in the tank, Spurs will need to have big able to stretch the defense. Right now, their only player able to do that is Bonner. Bonner will never be a great player but he could be damn useful.
If the tactic is not playing Matt to bring along others, then there comes a point at which Matt's reduced PT and DNP begins to hurt/regress Matt.

So he was a better three-point shooter in Toronto...
I never quite got why the Spurs were all so gung ho over Bonner last season. He is a nice guy and all, but they seemed to really fall in love with him. They quickly worked out his three-year contract instead of spending the same money on Scola- whch never quite made sense, but seemed to me to signal just how bad the relationship had deteriorated between the Spurs and Scola.
I suppose that all NBA teams believe they need a big man who can shoot 3's and spread the defense.
Perhaps it's one of the reasons someone got their job. I wonder if giving the Rockets Scola was a way for us to get their GM.
Though honestly, I can't even remember his name. The Express never mentions him. Does anyone know what the former Rocket FO/Sam Presti replacement guy does?
