Shaq is done because he spent so many years arrogantly coming into training camp, fat and out of shape. He even said once in an interview i saw that "He does not need to be in shape to play at a high level". He got away with this crap so much during his prime, he probably thought it would never catch up with him. That was one of the beefs with him and Kobe. Kobe would train hard all summer and Shaq would show up, fat, unmotivated, probably with a bag of donuts and then be told by Phil he is the centerpiece of the offense. Always having the mentality of "I will play myself into shape". He has been breaking down the last 2 years steadily, there is little reason to think that will change.

Shaq has lost most of his ATHLETICISM. When he was young and athletic, it didn't matter if he was fat or injury prone. He cold still dominate anyone who tried to guard him because of that combination of size and speed. now it's just size. Anyone who thinks he can turn back the clock is deluding themselves. What you see is what you get. no matter how well he "looks after himself". Age catches up with every human being. Look at Ben Wallace. He regularly player 80 games and has minimal body fat. Players retire for a reason, they can no longer do the things they used to be able to.

They have a special on chili dogs at the concessions tonight. Might have had something to do with it.

At $245K salary per game, how many more games wasted with Shaq not suiting up?

Laker Fan is the biggest Shaq hater in the world. It's hard to find a Laker Fan who can admit that Shaq was the team's biggest part to their three-peat.

That a Laker Fan would start this thread on a Spurs board is funny. Spurs fans love Shaq compared to the feelings of Laker Fan.

Wrong, I still love Shaq and all he's done in LA but we've also seen him waste away his talents by being fat, lazy, and having a huge ego. Why is it trouble follows him wherever he goes? You think it's coincidence? We've all seen the prime Shaq and the current Shaq is a shadow of himself. Just keeping it real man. Shaq can no longer function because of his footwork. He never really tried. He was on cruise control with all his god given talents. Now all that is fading he's still trying to hang on for those 20 mil a year paychecks. Robert Horry can do it because he's a role player and turn it on in the playoffs but Shaq is Shaq and the expectations will always be higher.

...what is % b/f of the Spurs' rotation? I think Michael has probably the highest b/f, judging from his undefined shoulders.
The only Spur I've got is Duncan.
The most recent I've got is the '05-'06 season where he came in with 10% body fat.

    http://www.mysanantonio.com/sports/b....21da7a26.html

In truth, Duncan's health held him back. He arrived at training camp well-rested and in his best shape ever, having dropped his body fat to 10 percent. But his right foot was sore.

I can't wait until Phoenix crumbles with Shaqs extra ty play at his old age. Dominiation? Dominiation of the Tri-State area's concession stands and pie eating contests is more likely.
