Come back Barry!
Mahinmi isn't going to be on the playoff roster, is he? Add Barry to the current roster and there's your 13.
You can only have 12 suited up for a game.
You can have 15 total players on a roster.
I'm interested to see Ime play on Dirk. At least now we can throw 48minutes of Bowen/Ime at the big German... no rest for him any more.
The questions these mailbag people ask show them up as casual NBA fans who don't really understand the game. That's okay though, because if everyone got it we wouldn't be elite, now would we?![]()

I guess I just assumed we were talking about the playoff roster. Since the active list can change from game to game now, I didn't think it was relevant. Bonner will certainly be the casualty as long as everyone stays healthy, which is possibly his only chance to actually make the postseason list.
I'm interested in seeing it too. For some reason I don't think of him being able to match up as well as Bowen does, for whatever reason. Even if he didn't, it'd be nice to have another defender to allow Bowen to just concentrate on Dirk.
Agreed. Someone that actually knows about the Spurs probably doesn't go there looking for answers.
I hope McDonald's gut feeling is based on some infos he has learned from Spurs.
Otherwise, it will be quite lame to give, without any reason, some hope to Spurs fan.
We will see what will happen but if Barry end up elsewhere, I will quite pissed at McDonald.
One of the things that Ime does to frustrate his opponent is getting right up close to them in a low defensive stance with his arms straight up, and he is so broad that this makes it hard for them to take the quick first step to turn the corner around him, and also impairs their vision. You may know what I mean, if not, look for it. I think it might bother Dirk because Jax did the same thing to him last year.
Imagine having Bruce dogging Dirk with Ime as the random doubler... bye bye big German! You might be able to run this if Kidd and Terry are on the court - Ime doubling off Kidd while Parker/JC/MM takes Terry. I'm happy to make Kidd shoot to beat us.
Don't forget about Howard. Much more likely that we see something like Bowen on Dirk and Udoka on Howard...
I think Bowen would be better on Howard because of his quickness and Ime on Dirk because Ime is much more physical and stronger. Who knows, but I am glad we have both.
Yeah but Bowen checks Dirk pretty well, and Dirk is more likely to get some of his typical BS superstar calls with Udoka on him than Bowen.
Good point.
BTW, I checked the Mavericks boxscore from last night's game. Dampier had like 16 rebounds and seven blocked shots. It was against the Washington so I don't know what to think about that.
Think Washington doesn't have any good big men.
Damp's been playing rather inspired ball. I suspect it has more to do with Diop's departure than with Kidd's arrival. When he plays with some effort he doesn't get as many lazy fouls, but when it comes down to it, he still only has six.
I also thought the Mavs showed signs of turning around prior to the trade because Dirk made a deliberate effort to start going to the rim, which really makes him dangerous. I'd have said don't sleep on the Mavericks until they made that idiotic trade.
Didn't Dallas play Chicago last night?
I thought Washington was in New Orleans.
Yeah, Chicago was in town, not Washington. Noah started the game.
IMHO if Tony is all the way healthy, I think Vaughn should be 13th and Bonner 12th, for many reasons.
1. Tony will probably lead the team in minutes in the playoffs anyway, so his backups are less critical.
2. Big men foul more than smalls, and you never know when Tim and Fab and Kurt will all be in foul trouble at the same time.
3. Bonner can stick a three or grab an offensive board.
4. Manu and Brent could both play point guard (and have done it well) if need be.
5. We have plenty of guards on the roster, but Bonner is only our 5th big. Without him it's like 8 smalls, 4 bigs.
6. Last night, in the 4th quarter I think, the Spurs had a mini-break, a 4-on-3 and Manu passed it to Vaughn, completely open at the free throw line. Like he had nobody around him in a 10 foot radius. He passed up the shot, we ed around with it, and eventually turned it over. If an NBA guard doesn't have the confidence (or the offensive intelligence) to shoot a free throw jumper when he's wide open, he really shouldn't be on a playoff roster. There is such a thing as being too unselfish and Vaughn is just too damn afraid to shoot.
Also, I think if Brent does come back, he'd only play in smallball line-ups. He's pretty much been a smallball specialist these past two years.
Duncan/Finley (or Udoka, or Bowen)/Manu/Barry/Tony
