Next year nobody in the WC will beat the Lakers. This year it's debatable only because of lack of experience and time to gel together as a group (starting 5).

i love how throughout all the threads you can already predict the future.

    amazing.

As of now we can't really tell... the Spurs just got back TP and Thomas is barely getting to know the system and barely getting playing time... Let's see if the Spurs form to their usual champion look.. if they do that then only Boston for the posibility of seeing them in the finals.

I agree - Detroit is more likely than either to win a series against the Spurs. Sheed does a better job than anyone on Duncan, and they have the playoff experience and poise to grind it out.

I expect Boston to unravel in a later 7 game series this playoffs. I'm not sure they'll make it past Detroit, for example.

L.A. looks dominant now because they're playing weak teams, and almost exclusively at home. And they have a weak schedule so they'll wind up with a good seed, but that won't mean much because all 8 teams are talented and capable of beating each other at least once or twice. I fully expect Kobe's injury to hurt him a lot more than he lets on, and that the gruel of the playoffs will be too much for him. And even if Bynum comes back, I don't expect he'll make much of a difference this season. Gasol is good, but not that good, and always gets exposed in the playoffs.

So, I think we're just as likely to see any of the other teams in the WCF as we are the Lakers.
I agree with Supergirl - DETROIT

Doc Rivers would get the Mike Brown treatment if we played them in the finals. A week of "Doc Rivers knows the Spurs organization well and can exploit them," with similar end results although probably not a sweep.

i mean seriously, paulina gasol and sasha vuachick? no. that team's not going to beat the spurs. i don't give a if kobe goes for 50 a night. that supporting cast cannot be the spurs. did you see how lamarcus aldridge embarrass gasol (both times they played)?

There are NO serious threats to a repeat this season - the teams with the talent AND leadership to topple the Spurs have not been together long enough to do so, much less been together in tough playoff series (Larry Brown IS NOT the coach of the Pistons! THAT was the team we all remember; it doesn't exist; THIS Piston team got beaten by the Cavs last season).

Complacency was a threat; but Pop has done a good job of building to a very strong peak.

Tim and Manu are there; I anticipate in a couple of weeks Tony will take over the offensive heavy lifting for a few games - the process has been refined this year.

The defense is rounding into shape

Health is the only thing that can stop this team.
    here! Here!

    Pride cometh before the fall.

I love the arrogance of Spurs fans thinking nobody can beat them in the playoffs. Just like the stupid Patriot fans.

The Spurs won't get past the 2nd round so it really doesn't matter.

    Spurs over Lakers in 5
    Spurs over Pistons in 7
    Fixed it for ya...

The Celtics cannot beat the Pistons in a seven-game series.

I love the arrogance of Spurs fans .
Let them act like Lakers aren't a threat. Spurs will blindly go about their business, thinking they are unbeatable and then they will get crushed on April 13th which will send them into disarray.

Face it, the Spurs have never been 'good enough' to repeat. Things haven't changed.

What's up with Spurs fans overrating the Pistons around here? The Lakers beat them once and lost by a bucket or so up in Detroit without Bynum, Kame, Gasol, etc. Styles make match ups I guess. I would rather face Detroit than Boston who raped us twice this year. Our players just aren't consistent enough to be counted on in the playoffs though. I don't like our chances greatly this year.
