I am not jinxing them on getting 58, I am saying that if they get to 58, it will be good enough for #1 seed.

Which means the Spurs will get 58...and someone else will get 59 or 60...

I think I am pretty fortunate really.. I have celebrated my team winning 7 championships in the last 8 yrs. 4 Spurs, 2 Boston Red Sox and 1 Maryland NCAA bball championship.....that is better than most fans by far. I like my chances to celebrate 2 more times in 08.

    My loyalties:
    Spurs: 4 'chips
    Red Sox: 2 'chips
Barcelona: 4' chips (1 Champions League)
    UT Football: 1 'chip
    Cowboys: ....... oh wait.

On the subject of the original thread. What's nice is that Barry will be back for the bulk of the remaining schedule. It should give him enough time to get back to game shape.

To me, those 2 historical oddities are not statistically revelant. In 00, the Spurs would have repeated had TD not missed the playoffs with the torn meniscus, in 04, the Spurs were screwed by a poor clock keeper when Fisher caught a pass, spun, elevated and released the game winner with 0.4 secs(an impossibility). In 06, it was the boneheaded foul by Manu that handed the Mavs the win on a silver platter.

As I said, with the Spurs poor road record(in comparrison to other seasons) I feel that it is relevant that they get HCA in at least 3 series in order to get that elusive back to back le.
The Spurs are, in my opinion, jinxed by even numbers. Someone has put a hex on the Spurs. Did you ever notice that 666 is an even number? Also, each individual digit, '6', in the number is ALSO an even number.

The Spurs are a great team, but I don't think they can overcome numerology. No one can.

    Spurs will finish #2
The Lakers have an easier schedule, plus THESE Spurs are not built for the season theyre are built for the playoffs.
I dont expect too much the remainder of this season but i do expect alot in the playoffs....i only see two teams who MAYBE can beat the Spurs in a 7 game series...

    lakers and suns
I agree with the 1st half of your post and disagree with the last half. I don't think the Spurs would ever lose a 7 game series to a Mike Dan Foni coached team. period. even with Shaq.

Now i do think that the Mavs could beat the Spurs in a 7 game series. They have done it before and the Mavs play with more confidence against the Spurs than any other team in the West, maybe the league.

I would rank from Most likely to least likely to beat the Spurs in a 7 game series of the teams currently in the top 8 today:

    Lakers
    Mavs
    Golden St.
    Jazz
    Suns
    Hornets
    Rockets

Well, if Jim's past jinxing powers are any indication, this will mean the Spurs definitely won't be winning 58 games and getting the #1 seed.

Golden State would not beat the spurs in a 7 game series ever. And rockets much more so than the hornets with all of their youth.
