"Christian nationalism" is saying "USA is run by govt that is Christian (sub-text: no other religions need apply)", which is theocratic and directly counter to the profoundly secular govt at the founding.

"second coming of Christ, godly men have the responsibility to take over every aspect of society"

...that the freaky, extremist, politicized, venal fundamentalism of their "God" that these jerkoffs promote against "Caesar". And of course, if you are pro-Caesar, you are condemned as anti-God.

They and their "wars" aren't the basis of US society, which must struggle to maintain the rule of law and the supremacy and sovereignity of the individual vs lawless, fascist ins utions perverted and subverted by the Repugs, capitalists, neo- s, the corps.
You are against capitalism and corporations?

Look, Honestly, I sympathize Boutons, I really do. Most of your opinions are fairly in line with my own, but seriously, what is the point of your posts these days? You really bring absolutely nothing to the conversation with posts like this.

I think a 3 adjective per sentence limit would do you some good.

not at all, but I'm against unregulated capitalism and corporations, which have, eg, enriched themselves with 100s of $Bs with sub-prime loans, etc and totally screwed it all up. Without regulations, corps and capitalists will over their employees, their clients, compe ors, the enviroment, all of nature.

I don't believe you especially when you put them right beside "Repugs" and "Neo-cons", knowing exactly what those two words mean to you . . .

You really make little sense. You are probably a very unhappy man, living in America, the land of capitalism.

You should find treatment for that. I'm sure doctors have figured out a cure.

So you right-wingers/free-marketers are pleased that unregulated finance/capitalism have led us into a hole for he next few years? What does that have to do with left or right?

One class of people yet to be foreclosed on were those who sucked out the bubbling equity, repeatedly, from their houses, and now have more debt than equity for the forseeable future, perhaps forever, have good chance of losing their homes. All of this was preventable with a few regulations, like the simple ones in place now in many states (no more "stated income" fairy tales. Show us 2 years of financial records, meet debt/equity/income ratios, etc)

I wonder sometimes exactly what "Christian fundamentalism" denotes in a political context. In Europe, anybody who believes in the historic doctrines if Christianity is a "fundamentalist." In a theological sense, a fundamentalist is one who concurs with the 90 chapters of The Fundamentals. Sometimes it means a dispensationalist. Sometimes it means any right-wing Christian active in politics. Sometimes it means any right-wing Christian who believes his vote should be based upon his personal values, even when thsoe personal values are informed by faith. Sometimes it means someone who thinks we should bomb abortion clinics. Sometimes it means someone who believes the moral and philosophical underpinnings of American government are rooted in the Judeo-Christian moral and philosophical tradition. Sometimes it means a Christian Nationalist. Sometimes it means a Dominionist. Sometimes it means Christian Reconstructionist.

Sometimes I qualify as a Fundamentalist, and sometimes I don't, depending on the definition. Sometimes the Fundamentalist is somebody who I virulently oppose.

The word gets used as a pejorative so often that it has lost its precision of meaning.
    Great point!

The MSM loves to use the F-word to describe pretty much any sort of conservative (politically and otherwise) evangelical. I'm not sure if it's on purpose, or if it's just what they really think of people like me (I am a follower of Jesus and am right-leaning -- I guess this makes me "evangelical"). But they certainly don't take into account the wide varieties of social and political expression of people of faith. And what about the evangelical left? What about the secular left? Are they not as outward in the expression of their faith as we are?

    Overall, excellent post.
