for the record, we're still #6 due to us owning the tiebreaker vs dallas (2-1)
but of course, that could all change this sunday at AA arena.

I knew the second Sean Elliot guaranteed the Spurs were going to win after they went up 20 in the 1st quarter that we were going to lose.
lay off hte players, they can get their together...
I do agree that Udoka is a variable at the 2,3 spot, that we didn't have before but all he needs to do is just play smarter come playoff time. Hopefully he has it. If not, let's hope Barry replaces him and Bowen can play the amount of time he played last post-season.

didn't elliot also say "it's good!" when Horry shot the final 3 pointer?
ugh
god some people on this forum (not all) are mentally re ed and whine and moan every time we lose a freakin game. my god...
well I'm venting about their venting. Can I do that?
While we're at it, let's not forget the fine job Big Baby did on Duncan in the previous meeting in Boston back in Feb. That makes 2 straight games versus the Celtics that Duncan was rendered "ineffective".
I thought it was pretty ballsy of him to say that at the beginning of the game but didn't think much about his comment. It's the frickin' first quarter against the best team in the league, you don't say they're going to win with 36 minutes left!
seriously, the guy should know better. The basketball gods made us paywith that potential And-1 that spun around forever then rolled out, at the end for Manu? That would have made all the difference between an overtime game and a loss, since we had a time out.
Actually you're right. But what I don't like is people coming on here and chastising certain players because they've missed a few shots. And then there are those who write the team off completely because they've hit a slump. Udoka, Horry and Fin are on this team for a reason. And that's to fill their respective rolls by supporting the big three. During the playoffs when these and other players are contributing as they should some of the comments on here will sound very stupid.

Give the game ball to the 98 year old Sam Cassell, and look forward to seeing another former Rocket collect another championship trophy this year.
Celts played with a grit, determination and sense of team that used to belong to the Spurs. You gotta admire the way their role players hit huge shots tonite, and the way the Celts seem to enjoy playing with each other.
Spurs look s -shocked and in disarray.
As someone who attended the game up close in Boston back in Feb and watching this game tonight, I can confirm the Celtics defense is absolutely smothering. They are indeed an astonishingly superior defensive team. Stats don't lie.
Sure you can vent. But, I don't get why you expect or want other posters to stop posting and think many Spurs fans are "Quitting" on the team, when all they're doing is ing after a loss. Which is typical.![]()
I heard it too, but let's get real. It's not Sean's fault. His comment had nothing to do with why the Spurs lost this game. The Spurs simply didn't maintain their superior level of play and their intensity through the 2nd half. Also, the Celtics had a lot to do the the way the Spurs were dismantled in the 2nd half.
Are the Spurs a contender or not? Sean wasn't exactly going out on a limb by saying they were going to win, not with them being up 20 in their own building.
Under those cir stances you should win............if you're a contender that is.
What an acquisition Cassell was for this team. However, Rondo is REAL, REAL good. As someone stated earlier, he's certainly not the weak link folks had been proclaiming earlier in the season.
Well, though I'm not yet ready to write off the Spurs completely (though they are making it very hard not to), I don't think for a second that Horry and Finley and Udoka are going to come through for us in the playoffs this season as in the past. I hope I'm wrong, but this "slump" that Finley and Horry especially are in is reaching record levels and it's not like it's been just for a few games. I don't mind them missing shots, it's their defense, lack of aggression that's hurting me. Finley isn't doing ANYTHING for this team and Pop is starting him again.

But, you've got realize that eventually the odds will be against us that guys like Finley, Horry and Vaughn will show up or play well. Whatever happens the remainder of this season, the Spurs can't rely on so many older players, because it's catching up to them.
Now what?
First and foremost, Pop has got to settle on a line-up and a rotation. Period. Moving Finley and Oberto and Manu and Kurt in and out of the starting line up is getting very old. I told people a couple of months ago- it is 2006 all over again.
Second, the team needs to remember that Duncan- and Duncan alone is the Superstar. Not Manu and not Tony going one and one and trying to be the big cheese.
Third, sharing the ball on offense and trusting each other on defense are the things that seem to me to be most obviously lacking, and that really tells me even more about the true chemistry of this team.
The one thing this Boston team was missing was the clutch guy- and they got him in Sam Cassell.
You know, not to take anything away from the Celtics or Rondo, but...
TP gets assigned to CP3... Paul lights us up.
TP gets assigned to Rip... Rip flares us up for 25.
TP gets assigned Andre Miller... Miller kills us.
TP gets Rondo... Rondo looks like an All-Star out there...
Do you see a pattern somewhere there?
