Whatever..........going 37-1 is pretty dayum good no matter who you play. Also, they just beat the living out of Texas who was co-champs in the Big 12........so what your argument is weak sauce.
Not saying their team is bad, I am saying take away the easy schedule, put them in a real conference, they would not have had such an easy road to the Finals than ANY other good team.

Why do people always say that?? A win is a win, no matter whom you play. You have to play who is on your schedule and who is in your conference. Personally I think if you are in a weaker conference It can make your team weaker........the better compe ion you play the better you become. You have to step it up for every single game, instead of coasting. Since Memphis has been in the tournament.....they have been blasting everyone they have had to play by almost 20pts a game. No other team can say that.

To counter your argument, their only loss was to a 30+ win #2 seed that was ranked #1 in the country for a while, Tennessee.

Also, Memphis beat Mississippi State (SEC) Michigan State (B10), Texas (B12), and UCLA (P10) so far. Kansas has beaten UNLV (MWC), Villanova (Big East), Davidson (Big South), and UNC (ACC).

I agree that if Memphis played in the Big 12 or the SEC there's no way in they'd be 38-1, but talent is talent. I don't see this group losing more than than four or five games in a major conference.

I totally agreed with everything you said, except I believe Memphis could be 38-1 if they were in the Big 12........they pasted UT like no other big 12 conference foe had.

Well, I can see both sides of that arguement. Memphis pulled out some sqeakers against UTEP, Houston, UAB and So Miss. They were a 1-bid conf, so it could be argued that all of those teams were worse than KState, uo, BU and atm, and that those teams were equivilant to ttek, OSU and Neb. Therefore if Memphis was in a league with ttek, OSU, Neb as the next best teams, I can see them going 38-1.

However throw in KU and a couple of these schools and it just wouldn't happen IMO. Mizzou beat UT. OSU beat KU. Those are an Elite Eight and a Championship Game teams losing to the lower half of their Conf - albiet to teams with big traditions that sucked this year. C-USA doesn't have any of those rich tradition basketball schools (they all left). The 2nd tier of the C-USA is comperable to the 4th/5th tier of the B12 (B12 had 6 teams listed higher in RPI than the 2nd C-USA team). The #2 C-USA team was 50; ttek was 69 and OSU was 73, then the 3rd C-USA team was Houston at 80. Tulsa was 93 and Neb was 95. That means C-USA had 4 teams in the top 100 and the B12 had 9.

Additionally, in the B12, this means that Memphis is going to have to play another Top 10 team (if they replace UT then they have to play KU who is in Champ game). Memphis doesn't have a bitter rival (atm/uo) or have to play in places with past/recent glory & great teams with huge followings (ttek, Mizzou, ISU, OSU). I doubt any C-USA arenas are on anyone's 'hardest places to play' while within the past 10 years not only Phog and GIA but Hilton and the Norm would be on there as well. Were OSU and ISU and Mizzou any good this year? No; but occassionally those places can rise up and bite you in the ass (see OSU over KU @ GIA). Not likely to happen at UCF or So Miss, no offense.

Bottom line is: Memphis is damn good. Is it possible they could have gone thru the B12 undefeated? Yes. Is it probable? No.

Well, they didn't; which seems to prove the point that Memphis would not have been a 1-loss team had they played in the B12.

Clearly the B12 was the best conf in the NCAA this year.

Ehhhhh........I think Memphis blew this game more than Kansas won it. Calipari should have told them to foul or give them a two point shot.......but stack the 3pt. line and do not let them get a shot off.

Memphis also chocked on free throws.

I think the Pats blew the SB more than NYG won it, but it doesn't make them any less the champs nor will people remember/care in 20 years. When it comes to championships there is one thing that counts: scoreboard.

Choking is relative - if you ain't well rounded you don't deserve to win.
