Let me get this straight: Francisco Elson would have won the game tonight?

Let me get this straight...why trade for ing Kurt Thomas to play against the Suns and then not ing play him against the Suns?

    Idiot.

You tell me Marcus...should we keep expecting him to get less minutes against the Suns than Jacque Vaughn...or was this just an aberration?

And if so... ing why? Do we want the Suns to be overconfident or something?

Spurs best answer for Shaq is sitting in Toronto smiling tonight.
Actually - probably the Spurs' best answer for Shaq is sitting on the end of the bench in New York.

So Elson would've shut down Shaq? Good call.
He was taller than Oberto at least.

Uh, we have no answer for Shaq. Too bad Tim Duncan pussed the out tonight and the last Suns game. I've never seen a player change so many ing shots for us by JUST STANDING THERE!
Shaq did play good D on Duncan. At this stage in Duncan's career, he can't elevate, so Shaq's D was effective.

How did Elson get brought into the conversation? That dude sucks. And if we hadn't traded for Kurt Thomas we still wouldn't have had Brent Barry. The team is sucking - not just Kurt.

Asshat...I am not criticizing the ing trade...

I'm criticising hte ing fact that Kurt Thomas rode the bench while Shaq gave Tim Duncan an all time butt ing in the fourth quarter.

And yes...Elson could have rode the bench while that happened just as easily as Thomas did...

Let me get this straight, swapping Elson for Thomas was a bad call?

KT did a great job on Shaq in the 1st half.

Who knows what happened to the entire team in the 2nd...

Idiot...why the did we trade for Kurt Thomas to put on Shaq and the not ing put him on Shaq...

Is this what you envisioned when you suggest we trade for him?

If so you're as stupid as ing Pop.

Wait let me guess...we didn't want to put Duncan on Amare or whoever the else they had out there...because then Amare might score on him...as opposed to anyone else we put on him.

And since you insist on...stupidly, pressing the trade thing...

If Thomas is going to be rendered a useless lump of against the Suns by Pop...

Wouldn't it then have been better to hold on to our #1 pick...you know, we might have landed one of those Josh Howard guys with one of them that you are always ing about...

Just STFU until you develop a coherent argument...

You can't blame Kurt Thomas' D for tonights loss..the Phoenix freaking Suns held you guys to 79. Something is seriously wrong with the Spurs as of late but ill give you a hint, it's not the defense. Also, Utah just held you guys to 64.

    Agreed.

Gotta give the Suns credit, their D ( , even just playing a zone defense at times) completely took SA out of rhythm.

SA missed shots, but when they ONLY took jump shots they began to fall apart.

I'd like to be able to balme Thomas' D for this loss...nothing would make me happier...unfortunately I was denied the chance to do that because he was on the bench while Shaq owned our entire ing team in the fourth, offensively, with Amare and Nash on the bench.

I don't give a if we only scored 5 points in this game...it was not lost due to our offense, it was lost due to our defense on Shaq at the beginning of the fourth quarter.

Might have been nice to at least have someone other than our HOF'er guarding him so they could at least foul him...

I swear...it was like this game was coached by Bob Hill...

Playing the guy more than 13 mins, against Shaq's 26 would've helped.

Kurt THomas did a fantastic job on him in the first half.

Then, gets no time on him at all in the second.

    I just don't get that...

You guys are just now questioning Popovich's dumbass rotation pattern?

Cmon, after the last 2 years shouldn't you guys should be expecting this kind of stuff by now? I remember the old dip excuse when Popovich didn't play his big guys was because they didn't understand the defensive rotations or some dumb like that. I guess we can add Kurt Thomas to the list.

First off, yes the move to keep KT on the bench during Shaq's low post sequence was dumb. But let's get real here. Shaq scored 3 jump hooks and a free throw. Not exactly a game-ending run. Our offense sucked ass. We scored, what, 9 points in the entire 4th quarter?

Let's get something straight. Phoenix in general is not a great defensive team. Teams still beat the Suns by pick-n-rolling Shaq/Amare and Nash to death, as they are both poor defenders. Ever seen CP3 West and Chandler operate against Phoenix?

Our offense is predictable and sucks hind . NBA teams play zone D as a surprise tactic, they don't use it consistently because ball and player movement can break the zone down, not to speak of the offensive rebounds. We couldn't do against the zone for nearly 2 quarters. Zilch. Pop didn't have a play to break it. That's where we lost. We play 4-down, Tony penetration and Manu penetration. The occassional Finley pull-up. That's Pop's playbook most of the time.

If a dumbass like D'Antoni can figure this out you better believe Phil Jackson, Byron Scott and Jerry Sloan can too

I have no other explanation. Oberto on Shaq is suicide.

I'm not all that concerned about Duncan's defense on Shaq. Shaq made shots and got into positions that I doubt Thomas would have been able to prevent either in single coverage.

What was frustrating was watching Duncan brick easy shots at the other end because he was scared.

I'll go ahead and critisize Thomas' jumpshoot, i think Shaq would've had better success from 12 feet tonight.
