Woah, how do you do the multiple home pages? That I have yet to do

The latest XP service back installs a pop up-blocker into IE, a really good pop-up blocker that always gives you the option of seeing the pop-up it just blocked if you really want to see it.
I've tried other browsers, but what keeps me with IE is the full screen browsing and autohide. I love it, that's what made me start preferring IE over Netscape in the first place and it's what keeps me with IE still. I realize you can get similar features in other browsers, but they just don't work as well as they do in IE.
I'm with TimVP on the subject of tabs...I have no problem going with multiple browser windows. It's really not that big of a deal.
Edit: And since I don't spend 90% of my time cruising porn sites(only about 25% of the time), I don't have a problem with any malicious programs...I use AVG and it catches just about everything. I'm also not really worried about security since I don't keep any data I don't want someone to get, on my hard drive.

With Firefox you are almost immune to spyware from websites. It is quite amazing really. You can troll the gutter of the net and come out smelling sweet as a daisy. And Whottt, with Firefox you can set it to block pop-ups from selected sites or make exceptions for them. This also works with cookies, passwords, and form data. It's really a nice feature. Firefox also can store a list of your passwords, which can come in handy.
Well, I downloaded Firefox. So far, I like it.
I usually just use IE, which is the default AOL uses....but User downloaded Mozilla on mine and was showing me some things. It looks pretty cool....I like the password thing-y.

Quicksearching. I ing love it
Go up the address bar and type in "g [whatever you want to google]" and surf away
The find on this page bar at the bottom is also cool. Not once has my homepage been hi-jacked either.
Control-F, right? I think ie has some sort of find feature but have never used it till firefox.
as for the quicksearch is that instead of the second google window?
BTW I use a custom skin(Littlefox) that uses small icons...on 11" of vertical screen I get 9¾" of viewing window.
yeah, quicksearch opens it right in the tab you are using. just go up to the address bar, type in g, then a space and a search string and check it out.
Yes, on the password thing-y. I never remember mine, let alone my user name
The only problem I have with websites is them trying to put a pop-up trojan or something like that, something like gator...and for some reason a lot of lyric websites try to put that on my PC, but AVG always catches it. That is a pain in the ass with IE, but it's not a frequent one.
You can do this with IE also.with Firefox you can set it to block pop-ups from selected sites or make exceptions for them.
This also works with cookies, passwords, and form data. It's really a nice feature. Firefox also can store a list of your passwords, which can come in handy.
I never store passwords, form data, auto search, complete, MRU or anything like that...I also don't keep any credit card info or PI on my PC.
BTW, I have firefox, opera and Mozillia on my PC(I actually have Netscape too)...But I still like the full screen and autohide interface of IE better than any features offered by anything else.
Whottt, check out some of the extentions you can d/l for Firefox. I think there is one for autohide/fullscreen.
I don't know if IE does it, but with Firefox when you enter a password you get three options to choose from. Store my password, use it only for this session, and never remember it. I like those options, and I like being able to set them on a per-site basis.
Firefox also has an extension to be able to zoom pics right on the site you are viewing. There is even one that will launch the same page in IE if there is a problem loading in Firefox.
Dang...there's a lot you can do with Firefox that I didn't know can be done![]()
Firefox is the cats ass, this browser rocks. I've been using it for awhile now and have never looked back.
The only bad thing about FF was the intial DL it had no security certificates to prove this was the real deal and not a comprimised root kit.

With extensions you can pretty much cutomize the way that Firefox behaves one function I liked in Opera was that when you open the browser it comes up exactly as you left it when you last used it - and now I have it in Firefox (even a computer crash won't mess it up). Or you can have an extension that opens a link in IE (for the WOAI videos).
Timvp, Whotttt,
You consume much more memory when you open multiple IE windows as opposed to multiple tabs in Firefox. You also can not save a multiple window layout in IE. What I do is I have folders with specific sets. For example I hav e a folder called "NBA" where I've put links to my favourites NBA websites, I then click on the folder and choose "open in tabs" and all the links load up in my browser each in its own tab, If you then chose the same function in another folder the complete content of you browser changes instantly. This function is very useful when you look for information on specific subjects.
The customizable quick search function is awesome I have OpenBSD man pages search in there (it's a very obscure thing - but you can have it as a quick search - I love it)

I use both IE and Firefox. Ironically, Firefox runs slower than IE on my comp. But that's probably only cause my computer is so old...but if I had to make an overall choice it would be Firefox.
In answer to the first question in this thread, yes...they still make Netscape Navigator. I downloaded last year after doing a format on my drive, but in all honesty, they ruined it when they made the leap from just simple browser to their "navigator" thing.
One thing I love about Firefox is it lets you do things both the Unix way and the Windows way. For example, like you said the quick find can be done as CTRL-F just like it is in IE, Notepad, Word, and a ton of other Windows apps. However, you can also search the page by pressing / just as in vi, less, and countless other Unix apps. I know it seems small, but its nice that its made to be convenient for both the Unix and Windows crowds.
