Having AJ back on the Spurs Org is like going back to an Ex- who cheated on you...
It will never be the same again!

Sure he can be an assistant coach. Though I think he did a pretty good coaching job for his first few seasons. I'm sure he could get a head coach position somewhere though...there are a lot of open spots

Avery would make a good assistant but I think he'll get hired as a head coach someplace else first.

Those of you who say no, do you have any reasons why you don't want AJ to be Pop's assistant? Or is it just hatred cause he was in Dallas?

While it would Redeem AJ for his Maverick sins.... I doubt that it would be good for the team.

I'm fine with him as an assistant coach. It's not like he is going to take over all of Popovich's job.

If Popovich thinks Avery can contribute something in the playoffs, then why not?

AJ has a taste of coaching a high powered offense in the Dallas Mavericks. His insight would prove invaluable to the spurs. We haven't necessarily been known for our brilliant offense over the years, albeit we do have 4 championships to underscore the importance of defense in this league.

The amusing thing is that Pop would welcome him back yesterday. Funny how Spurs fans can be so off.

It would just seem funny if Popovich will hire him just for this playoffs. If Popovich surprised the Suns with the Hack-a-Shaq strategy, how about another tactic to use against the Hornets like using Avery's knowledge against the Hornets.

    Ah, the side stories:

    - Byron Scott seeing Avery again at the opposite end of the court, now with tools to counter his Hornets
    - Cuban's look seeing another former Mav going to the Spurs
    - CIA Pop again
    - etc

Oh well, just crossed my mind...
