Congratulations! You have successfully pointed out a version of the reductio ad absurdum fallacy. I'm impressed.

I wonder, though, were the crowds who came to see Hitler forced to go? Or ahem, encouraged? Or did Hitler enjoy such mass appeal that they wanted to go?

On the other hand, Godwin's Law is not necessarily an attempt to point out the RAA fallacy. Its goal is to help us avoid dumb, overblown comparisons to Hitler. It cuts both ways -- I'd like to see student protesters cut down on the Bush=Hitler thing, too.

I could care less. As said in this forum so is Hugo, so what
does that prove. Other than he can draw crowds, hold hands
with his kids and kiss his wife and walk around in circles
wondering what to do next. All hail the great messiah.

How many people do you know who like to dress in matching uniforms and stand in perfect formation?

Hmm. Not many. Then again, it was a different time.

Hitler was unusually charismatic, and Germany, despite the human-rights abuses, was on its way politically, economically, and militarily to becoming a great power again, after the disasters of WW1 and the Weimar Republic. I imagine quite a few Germans wanted to be there.

And Hitler was also a man of change. Remember Germany
was in a turmoil when he came to power. Many believed
    him.

Nothing like twisting someone's words. I was just stating
a fact. You disagree with that?

And yes I was alive when he came to power, but a little
    young for graduate school.

But funny, I do remember setting at the breakfast table
and my Dad telling me that England was at war with
Germany and world war was more than likely on the way.

Well, the '94 Contract With America Republicans were for change...
But they publish what they wanted to change and how.

Not some magical solution or ambiguous statements. The
only thing we know about his changes is that it will cost
    the bank.

Well, the '94 Contract With America Republicans were for change...
    , I'm for change, alright ...

    In a small nuts ...
I want taxes cut, for companies, the wealthy, the "middle-class," and the poor. I want en lement programs drastically cut. If you're able-bodied, you don't get a check from the government. And I want govt spending in general slashed -- the govt gets to spend $$ on infrastructure, the military, and law enforcement, and not much else.

I believe in aggressively seeking out and killing Islamic terrorists. I believe we ought to talk to the bad guys, insofar as we keep it to: knock it off, or we will kill you. I believe we ought to fully support the military as they work to keep us safe. I want to keep our prisons open, including Gitmo. I could care less if terrorists get tortured. I do not want an al-Qaeda Bill of Rights.

I don't believe the earth is burning. We are not causing it if it is. I want us to drill off the continental shelf and ANWAR, and I would do it tomorrow. I believe corn-to-ethanol is a scam.

I want a basic respect for traditional religiously-derived values. I'm tired of the courts deciding for us issues involving baby-killing, marriage, religious expression, etc. (On the other hand, I don't want a state church. No one wants that. We just want respect.) Overall, we want govt to allow us to govern ourselves, and keep itself out of our lives.

Etc. There's more I can say, but I'll keep it very brief.

If any comes along with a platform like this -- he will clean up in the general election. And that's change I can believe in.

I know sweetie. But don't talk about my ears, my middle
name, my wife, my Mom or anything else about me.
And before you say anything else, I didn't say that.
