I agree that whoever is picked up FA will probably see PT ahead a rookie...However, I would easily rather have greene on the 12 man roster rather than Bonner due to multiple positions he would be able to play.
Starters
1 Parker
2 Smith
3 Bowen
4 Duncan
5 Thomas
Bench
1 Vaughn
2 Ginobili
2 Barry
2/3 Udoka
4 Bonner
4 Mahinmi
5 Oberto
IR
1 - point guard picked at #45 or free agency
3 Greene
4/5 - project big using LLE
The one problem with most of the SpursTalk.com wheeling and dealing is that the roster is fairly set as it is, assuming Barry and Vaughn exercise their options to return.

Im going to have to disagree, I dont see the Spurs trading down in the 10-20 range to grab a player to put on the IR. That just dont make sense...
Then Barry or Udoka will have to leave.
This man is a terrible defender. He's a streaky shooter that's all. He has very poor shot selection with no heart what so ever. He's afraid to go inside on a consistent basis with his height. This is a huge no.
I agree, someone is going to have to go if the Spurs bring in a top tier long 3. Im guessing it would be Udoka.
way out of range for us.. unless we significantly trade up.
Green seems like he could be slipping. He went at 25 in Ford's latest mock.
A long small forward who can hit threes? Sounds like a player the Spurs could want. At 26, I think he'd be a very good pick ... even though he probably needs some time in Austin to reel in his wildness.
And the Spurs have already worked him out. Hmmm . . .
I would freak out if the Spurs got this kid. He has all kinds of talent and size.
If the Spurs were able to land Seattle's #24 and keep their own, how about:
24. Greene
26. Douglas-Roberts
?
or...
24. Greene
26. Jordan
Would the Spurs go with two IR players in Austin next season?
As long as they trust that Mahinmi doesn't need anymore Austin time, I don't see why not. It'd probably justify the expenses of the Toros when the Spurs report to Holt.
Bowen is almost 40 and you still want him to start? Turn the page already... ...
id prolly myself...that would be awsome...
That would be terrific. Greene slipping was unexpected, but a number of other guys are rushing into the late-lottery or just past. At 26 Greene has a lot of value. A lot.
I don't know. I think if they trade for another 1st rounder they'll use it on a big.
Wow this guy is tearing it up in Summer League. Everyone keeps talking about CDR, Chalmers, and Arthur, but he may be the guy we passed on that ends up having the most game.
Aint this about a blimp, now in the other thread texas triple threat i made a comment about greens 40pt game and was said to be over excited and wetting myself. I be damn spurs fans are something else. Ive noticed if a player is going or they think will end up a spur they have so much good things to say about that player but let a team like rockets get him. He will be a bust, he wont do as well in the league, and any other reason why they wont do well. Same with scola before rockets got him spurs fans were so high on the guy as soon as rockets got him spurs fans tried in every way to cut him down.![]()
I am guilty of trying to downplay Scola because I thought he'd never make the transition to the NBA, but you definitely got something special in Greene, I'm not denying that. I wouldn't be surprised if he's a main rotation player for you guys this season.
So this guy was available and the spurs drafted george hill and pop became president?
wtf?
I agree with you, it may only be SL, but I still think the Rockets got a steal here. It was funny on draft day when everyone was blowing up about not drafting CDR, Chalmers, or Arthur, I was like WTF, what about Greene, thats who you should be ing about. Size wise the guy is a perfect NBA long 3 and he slipped from about the 15 projected pick to the 28 pick.
Yes, he was drafted with the # 28 pick. He was projected to get drafted as high as 15 but dropped on draft day.
He is currently leading Summer League with 40pts and a 60% FG%. Not to bad for a number 28 pick.
this shows how overated the spurs FO are, passing on Greene after getting blocked by houston..WTF...and they all got a promotion for their stinker on the backs ofnice!

This is who I wanted the Spurs to take when he dropped to 26.![]()
I feel your pain man, I was saying the same damn thing.
