Depending on whom you ask, the use of the word who in this instance is acceptable in casual conversation.

Just compare translations - the word choice the translator uses influences the context and meaning of the sentence, sometimes in profound ways.

Like that favorite passage at weddings? I Corinthians 13? The great 'love is' passage?

The original English translation was Charity. And it is perhaps a better word choice from the original language. But there is a difference in meanings between charity and love.

Because love used in this passage could mean something entirely different from love used in another passage.

It's always, always worth remembering that the Bible is a translated work and it is translated by man. Leaving all the compilation (political image crafting) aside - that should make one wary of over-reliance on the Bible.
