Good first half all things considering. Any halfway decent free throw shooting and they have the lead.

Stephen Jackson looks GREAT defensively. Let's hope he keeps this up. On offense, he's attempting to fit in. I really couldn't ask more from him in his first half as a Spur again.

If Parker and Ginobili can get scoring in the second half and the Spurs don't run out of energy, they have a decent shot at getting this one

If Blair was not guarding Dirk we would lead... Don't want to see him in game again.
Posting up Blair is also a losing recipe. He's ok with the pick and roll but he cannot post up against bigger defenders because he doesn't have the moves.

Really can't overstress how impressed I am with SJax for his first ing game with the Spurs. He's made his presence known (great assist to Splitter, splashed a 3 ball, good tough defense on Dirk multiple times culminating with that offensive foul on Dirk).
Watching SJAX craftily draw a charge on Dirk was the play of the game for me.

Sjax is way better for us than RJ ever was. Hes not afraid to get physical. He's doing a pretty good job on Dirk.

I thought Tony passed up some transition looks to Leonard where Leonard had gotten ahead of the defense, maybe rightly so, but the Spurs normally push the ball.

The first half was not that bad for us. We did have a slow start. Down 9 at the end of 1st and won 2nd by 7. Win the 3rd and 4th and the game is ours. But don't expect the Mavs to fold.

Not afraid of these Mavericks at all. Spurs are sloppy as all , SJax's first game back and only down 2 at half.
Mavs are missing Haywood/Marion but, yeah, I don't see a championship level squad in Dallas this year. Lakers probably favorites in the West right now(assuming Kobe stops shooting them out of games come playoff time).

4-11 from the free throw line (36%). Stat line of the game, tbh.

How much of a learning curve is there for Jax? Have the offensive and defensive plays changed much since Jax was here?

If those imposters masquerading as Manu and Tony disappear in the second half and the real guys show up, Spurs should get this.

Injecting Manu in and out of the lineup has seemingly thrown things out of whack. Hopefully they can overcome the 25% FG from him and the out of rhythm state he has the team in.

Jackson didnt get touches on offense, but he seems to understand his situation. On defensive side of court he looked great.

Damn, Stephen Jackson almost looked like he could fill the Robert Horry role. For some reason, he's always seemed so much taller than 6-foot-8.

    Short answer: Yes

He seemed pretty comfortable with the sequence to get Timmy the ball in the post, at least, but we've gone away from that quite a bit since '03

I thought we played pretty ty... 2 point down, not bad
I guarantee you the Mavs are feeling a lot more nervous about the outcome of the game than the Spurs.

    No blocks from him though.
