The guy is 6'7" and weighs less than Beno. That's not what I'd call perfect.
Don't even use the word perfect when referencing the 28th pick!!

heres what chad ford said
Interesting. We knew the Spurs were going to take a player from France. We thought it would be Mickael Gelebale but had heard in the past week that Mahinmi might be the guy. He is a long, athletic, relentless rebounder, but he's very raw. He's going to be another long-term Spurs' project. Look for him to stay overseas and resurface in a few years, a la Manu Ginobili.

6'10", good at establishing inside position... defensive beast.. sounds like 1/10 of a Tim Duncan to me.
AND NOTHING ELSE. Salim hasn't been a projected first rounder for a couple of weeks. 6'3" shooting guards don't have much of an NBA shelf life.
are you agrentine and can not stand having another french player on the team
are you worried scola can not handle some competion?
Sounds like a poor man's David in the description....Not as many offensive move but a monster in paint. May be a great sleeper. Think about it david didn't start playing bball until college.
he was a volley ball player. he has fantastic hands and jump. reflex are great and in volley ball you touch the ball only once. so he should share lol
cnnsi nailed it, too.![]()
Sounds about right
Oh and the 28th pick is our !!
Well given the current situation, we are gonna probably have 2 Argentine players on the teamn (Scola and Manu) and Rasho has Beno already. RC feels sorry for Tony so he drafted another French player so he can Tony can be friends. Does anybody have any stats of the guy?
Can first round piicks stay overseas with garunteed contracts?
LOL. This fella is ZERO compe ion for Scola. We wont even hear of this guy for 2-3 years.
Gelabale just made more sense to me.
But don't we have to sign him to a 3-yr contract? b/c hes a first-rounder?
Yeah, GOD KNOWS that a 57th pick would be much more PERFECT! (Reference 1999)!
dumb pick, but I guess the same can be said of High Schoolers being picked.
He'll be a bench warmer in the mold of TMass & Marks.
Bottom line is some of you guys are simply homers.
This guy isnt planned on being on the active roster for gods sake is he?
Gino, alright, we get it. You want Gelabale. , get over it.
We broke down the new CBA at length here the last couple of days. But don't we have to sign him to a 3-yr contract? b/c hes a first-rounder?
The new rookie contracts are two years with a team option for year 3 and then again for year 4.
I read somewhere that Utah was interested in Ian.
Look at yourself. If your head was any further up Genabale's ass you'd be seeing daylight.Bottom line is some of you guys are simply homers.
I think I'm going to go with the Spurs foreign player evaluations over some Joe Six Pack on this site who has a stick up their ass about some Italian scrub that no one in this league has felt was worth it as of the 34th pick.
There goes CJ Miles to Utah. He looks like Ray Allen's little brother.
