Ya, but, WHY pass up on the perfect SF for this team in Mickael Gelabale???

Maybe Pop swings a trade for him in the second round to someone. The Knicks maybe...
Don't even use the word perfect when referencing the 28th pick!!

The guy is 6'7" and weighs less than Beno. That's not what I'd call perfect.

    heres what chad ford said
Interesting. We knew the Spurs were going to take a player from France. We thought it would be Mickael Gelebale but had heard in the past week that Mahinmi might be the guy. He is a long, athletic, relentless rebounder, but he's very raw. He's going to be another long-term Spurs' project. Look for him to stay overseas and resurface in a few years, a la Manu Ginobili.

6'10", good at establishing inside position... defensive beast.. sounds like 1/10 of a Tim Duncan to me.

why not salim, HE CAN SHOOT!!!
AND NOTHING ELSE. Salim hasn't been a projected first rounder for a couple of weeks. 6'3" shooting guards don't have much of an NBA shelf life.

It seems like the Boston Herald was the only place that knew the Spurs would pick him.

Well given the current situation, we are gonna probably have 2 Argentine players on the teamn (Scola and Manu) and Rasho has Beno already. RC feels sorry for Tony so he drafted another French player so he can Tony can be friends. Does anybody have any stats of the guy?

dumb pick, but I guess the same can be said of High Schoolers being picked.

He'll be a bench warmer in the mold of TMass & Marks.

Gino, alright, we get it. You want Gelabale. , get over it.

But don't we have to sign him to a 3-yr contract? b/c hes a first-rounder?
We broke down the new CBA at length here the last couple of days.

The new rookie contracts are two years with a team option for year 3 and then again for year 4.

Look at yourself. If your head was any further up Genabale's ass you'd be seeing daylight.

I think I'm going to go with the Spurs foreign player evaluations over some Joe Six Pack on this site who has a stick up their ass about some Italian scrub that no one in this league has felt was worth it as of the 34th pick.
