And United were missing how many players and still won?

    United-Barca is a 50-50 tie, tbh.

Dude, you my guy but come on you are giving United way too much credit.

I agree this Barca side isn’t anything spectacular but I genuinely think Barca should win this by 2-3 goals once both legs are said and done.

But you know how me and my predictions go

Disagree. Better than Lyon for sure, but defensively they are worse than Barca. United are going to struggle against Messi and Dembele. Barca’s midfield is significantly better.

And I don’t think Barca will win CL. Hope I’m wrong, but Liverpool are a whole tier above united.

After Roma, anything is possible, but I’d say it’s 70/30 to Barca to beat united. The psg result was jammy as .
Barcelona didn't even score at Lyon and with 75 minutes left in the 2nd leg, Lyon were a goal away from taling the lead on away goals. United isn't a possession team so it gives people the illusion that they're getting dominated. PSG had the ball but didn't have a ton of quality chances. De Gea is one of the best goalies in the world and United has tightened up their defense since Mou's firing. It should be a low scoring affair with Barcelona controlling possession. Lukaku and Pogba are more than capable of superceding Coutihno and Dembele. Messi will be Messi but as PSG found out, having the best player on the pitch doesn't guarantee victory, and this is coming from a guy who prefers Barceloa to beat United.

I never said that Madrid was the favourite, not after the season they are having.

Let's see if City reaches the final for once before talking .

Barca DOMINATED Lyon over both legs. Lyon literally looked good for 25 minutes out of 180. Barca are better at just about every area of the pitch over United. The only area is GK which is a coin toss and probably favor De Gea.

United just don't create enough chances. Barca, unlike last year in CL, have been creating a crazy amount of chances. I do wish they could be more clinical as it's frustrating to play Lyon off the pitch in the first leg and only gave a 0-0 to show for it.

Lukaku is an absolute bottler and their backline leaves a lot to be desired. Ole has done a wonderful job with them but while I expect the game at Old Trafford to be close I think Barca will wreck the out of them at Camp Nou.

If it's anything less than a 3-1 after both legs then the board would legit need to overhaul half this roster.

United and Porto were the two teams I wanted most. I think Ajax would've been tougher than United personally. United are jammy as , but certainly better than they were when they had Mou.

Heavy favorite indeed. After Roma, anything is possible but Valverde shouldn't play so negative like he did in that second leg lat year.

I'd say the Barca-Utd tie is more of 70-30. Barca are the clear favorites but the offensive firepower of Martial-Rashford-Lukaku-Linegard-Pogba will give that Barca back line fits. The midfield battle is also closer than people think.

PSG were missing two of their top 3 players. And thoroughly outplayed united in that second leg. United just got their ass handed to them by Arsenal.
Wouldn't say they got their 'ass handed' if you exclude the first 20 min. Lukaku pulled a Lukaku with his chances and Arsenal also benefited from a dodgy penalty and a DDG error. No clue why they didn't start Martial (then took him off if fitness was an issue).

    Anybody still hyping United?

It is not just against PSG, they have been fluking too many wins in this little cute run with Solkajear and now it seems lie their luck has run out. Barca should comfortable dispatch these pretenders, tbh.

Not sure if this is in response to the Wolves beating United in the FA Cup but the league cups are generally viewed around England as gimmick cups. I'm pretty sure De Gea in net would have stopped both Wolves goals from happening. The Wolves are also a very tough out at home. They're capable of beating anyone if you take them lightly.

Oh, hey look, Juventus lost to Genoa 2-0 in Serie Z and Look out Champions league, Liverpool just squeaked by Fulham 2-1, arguably the worst team in ther EPL, thanks to a Mane flop in the penalty box. Be scared! Be very scared!

Wolves give the top 6 in the EPL fits.
This is a very good side when they get intense against good compe ion.

Mane flop? No way. Liverpool were not good but the foul was a good call.

Spurs are out immediately unless they try something very different.
Pep and Man City completely outclass them in every way. I would rather Spurs play Barcelona again.
We have been in an extended downer.
Although we did play one of our best 1st halves this year against Southampton, and then promptly lost.

Tell you what buddy, if Barca lose the tie we make a sig bet.

I'll do any sig you want if Barca fail to advance, but if Barca win the tie by at least two goals you have to do any sig I want for the duration of champions league.

    Deal?

Agreed, goalie blatantly had his hands on Mane, really dumb foul to give up.

No, I did some work to have the sig I have, tbh. I don't want to throw it away in a bet that I don't even believe in (I said the tie is close, not that Manu is the favourite).

I just get annoyed at your constant confidence regarding Barcelona, despite them failing on CL for the past 3 seasons in a row. Especially considering that you are the complete opposite on the Spurs forum. It almost seems like you are trying to jinx GOD on purpose, tbh.

I have hardly have confidence in Barca, I don't rate Valverde highly at all. I thought last year's team was one of the 2-3 worst Barca teams of the decade.

I just think United were playing over their heads and are coming back down to earth. If you can't at least have confidence against a mediocre United squad then Barca should overhaul half the roster.

I still don't think they'll get past Liverpool or City. Our defense can be exposed against those teams. And Pep and Klopp are better than Valverde. They've been brutal in CL in recent years but I'd take last year's Roma, Juventus and Atletico all over this United team.

The Roma tie was a humiliating choke, don't get me wrong. But even that Roma team fought back in the SF to be one goal from making it to the UCL Final.

It's bizarre how some people in here vastly overrate this United squad. There is no way this tie is 50-50. It'll be close at OT, and then Camp Nou Barca will bust it open hopefully.

I think United beating Barca over two legs would be a bigger upset than Ajax over Madrid. Madrid had been poor all season.

Speaking of coming back down to earth, Liverpool have been the definition of mediocre since January. Liverpool were a product of Mo Salah last season and this season, they're a product of Van Dijk. If you don't have confidence that Barca can beat Liverpool, What makes you think they should dominate United?

They bowed out of three straight champions league QFs all of which they were favored (Athletico, Juve, Roma) so a United win might come as a surprise but certainly not inconceivable..

I agree with you that Liverpool have looked out of sorts for many months now. That Fulham game was brutal. Maybe the pressure of them trying to win the league is getting to them, or teams have started to figure Salah out a lot more. On the flip side I'll take Mane's form over anyone at United right now. But I'm sure United will play better than they did vs. Wolves and Arsenal.

I know Barca has choked in recent CL's, I don't think even think they'll win this year's CL, though I hope to be proven wrong.

However, Atletico and Juventus went on to the finals. Atletico nearly won both of their CL's, one match being a late Ramos header and the other going to penalties. Had Griezmann not missed his penalty during the first 90 minutes then who knows how the 2016 one goes down.

Juventus had conceded the least amount of goals at a record pace heading into the 2017 Final. They had a halftime implosion, but going into that match, along with both of those Atletico teams you definitely had some genuinely good teams Barca lost to. Not just some random no name underdogs.

As for Roma, I think last year's team was MUCH better than this year's Roma squad. They had some dumb tactics in the first leg against Liverpool but came back to being within a goal of advancing to the Final. That one still stings as a Barca fan, but my god were Valverde's tactics (much like Simeone this year) beyond awful in that second leg. Trying to turn Barca into a hyper defensive/park the bus team for 80 minutes (until he finally subbed on Dembele, by which point it was too late) was really pathetic.

I'd take all of those teams comfortably over this year's United squad. United's best hope is to keep a clean sheet at OT (doubt that will happen, Lyon was extremely lucky to have not conceded in the first leg) and then try to win by virtue of away goals in the second leg.

Outside of De Gea, United are a trainwreck defensively and their midfield leaves a lot to be desired. Maybe with Matic back Pogba plays forward a little more again and Martial stays healthy but in regards to their attack it leaves a lot to be desired. I still can't trust Lukaku right now.

Dembele will most likely miss the first leg which is huge for United. He would've had a field day going up against United's right flank. I hope Valverde gives Malcolm another chance but Dembele should be out and Suarez has an ankle injury right now but hopefully should be ready for the first leg.

I know it sounds like I'm making United come off as some second division team but I just don't think they'll be able to beat Barca. I think a 50-50 tie sounds crazy to me. But it is the CL.

I think Liverpool have struggled but I don't think this is who they are, Salah won't be this bad forever and Mane is out of his mind in great form. Firminio is great and Klopp loves to pressure and hit teams on the counter which is a weakness of Barca.

I hope I'm proven wrong about Barca's CL chances, let's see what happens.

Either way, I'm hoping it's a fun tie against United. Haven't played them in so many years.
