Yea its kinda weird. Especially from a immigrant who fled their homeland.
He's probably sympathetic to the killer, but has enough shame not to say so publicly. Guilty conscience shrinks from its own reflection.

The Jacksonville massacre is a reminder that the Republican Party, like many other political parties around the world, has a paramilitary wing that’s standing back and standing by in case things don’t work for the party democratically. This faction is typically neither formal nor organized. (It’s usually invisible to the naked eye.) But when the time is right, it comes to the surface, as it did on January 6, 2021, when Donald Trump led an attempted overthrow of the United States government after it was clear that he lost the 2020 election to Joe Biden.

But the J6 insurrection is only the most obvious expression of violence from the Republicans’ paramilitary wing. As I said, it’s subliminal. It emerges typically in the form of shooting massacres – or the slaughter of what I call “outpeople,” who these paramilitaries believe are trying to disown “law-abiding citizens” of their American birthright. It happened in Charleston and Buffalo (Black people), in El Paso and Uvalde (Hispanics) and in Pittsburgh (Jews). It happened again in Jacksonville (again, Black people). Democracy has, since 2008, betrayed “patriots” (when it produced a Black president.) Political murder is their recourse.

I understand the urge for a Slav to feel like he has to defend the white race. Those who are on the perceived fringes of whiteness have always felt they needed to be good soldiers in order to be accepted. It’s an insecurity. The easiest way to show white bona fides is to be anti-black.

The exception to the rule is of course the Jews. But then again there aren’t any conspiracy theories out there about how Poles or Irish run a secret cabal to take over the world.

"From the cradle of the Confederacy, the very heart of the great Anglo-Saxon south land, today we sound the call of freedom. Let us rise to the call of freedom loving blood that is in us. In the name of the greatest people who *has ever trod this earth..."

teases out the point of right wing stochastic terrorism

the right wing has given up on electoral democracy and is flooding the zone with guns and violent rhetoric that creates permission for their political base to murder people.

That’s the practical use of shooting massacres, all 476 of them, according to the Gun Violence Archive, since the start of the year. The threat of mass death can establish a climate of fear and loathing that silences dissent among people who endure the greatest burdens placed on them by the orders of white power. If censorship can’t be done legitimately, it can be by sanctioning otherwise illegitimate behavior.

It’s a pattern seen around the world. Political groups forge informal relations with society’s Very Worst People in order to harass, intimidate or terrorize a much larger faction into thinking that it’s too dangerous to act politically or that there’s no point in trying. You can see this in some countries whose middle classes don’t trust authorities to protect them, because the authorities are in cahoots with the criminals.

You could say that the Republicans have done something similar. Since the reelection of the country’s first Black president, they have flooded their communities with guns, thus empowering society’s Very Worst People, and in doing so, actualizing crimes (ie, mass murder) where only criminal potential had been. If the Republicans can’t dominate democratically, they can attempt to via other means, specifically by empowering white vigilantes to take “the law” into their own hands.

It’s here that we see the essential nature of shooting massacres. They are antipolitical politics in distilled form. They are an expression of a party that no longer trusts democratic politics to produce desired results, and that can no longer afford to engage the opposition in a free and fair contest, because democratic politics is no longer in full alignment with the orders of white power that it represents. Shooting massacres are an attempt to do what can’t be done democratically.

    Vintage Forearms settles with NY

The maker of a gun accessory tied to a racist shooting that killed 10 Black people at a supermarket in Buffalo will pay $1.75 million to survivors and victims’ families and stop selling the device in New York, state Attorney General Le ia James said Wednesday.

The agreement with Georgia-based Mean Arms settles a lawsuit filed by James and covers claims from various victims’ families and survivors of the 2022 attack at Tops Friendly Market. They also reached agreements to resolve their own separate suits against gunman Payton Gendron’s family and a gun seller, Vintage Firearms LLC, the plaintiffs’ lawyers announced Wednesday.
