I know this is his first game as a Spur and they’re just trying to get a feel for where he’s at and all, but our offensive game-plan (or lack thereof) with Wemby is legit re ed tbh. As soon as he enters the game, our offense looks like cause the ball stops with him at the top of the key so he can iso. Needless to say, this is incredibly stupid. Quit playing him like he’s 7’4 Kobe Bryant and get his ass in the post. This is an easy adjustment tbh.

Objective take on Wemby in the first half.

Pros: game changer on defense (a couple of jaw dropping blocks, can move his feet out on the perimeter), great passer, super fluid for his size, moves like a guard, high basketball IQ.
Cons: obviously nervous missing layups, got stripped down low a couple of times, jumper looks clean but needs work.

What's crazy is that he should easily be at something like 5/5/3/3 at the half (should have at least 3 assists at this point if people could finish)...despite the rough shooting start, that's a wild stat line for 10-12 minutes of play

First half thoughts

Kai looks like he's trying to take victor out.

Blake is a terrible 1, but his shot looks great. I'd love to see him as a 2.

Branham is so ty on defense it hurts my eyes.

Cissoko (sp?) is a really good basketball player except for the basket part. I love his at ude.

Dom is money from about 12 feet in.

Victor is as smart and mature a teenager as I have ever seen in the league.

How does Mark Jones get paid to do this game and he can't even pronounce Victor's last name? What a re . Someone clearly told him because he is saying it slowly now.

This isnt some mere coincidence that the same thing happened with his France team. This is the way a team can only play around Wemby. Hes not mobile enough to play like you guys he think play, moving around for easy shots. This offense is going to go back to 90s style offense with more in and out than the free flowing of the Beautiful Game.

Doesn't look like he has the strength to be playing the low post right now. Definitely seems much better facing up.

Wemby is over passing at times, needed to take the ball to the rim and clearly has been plugged in without enough practice time with the team yet.

Nothing fancy regarding Wemby, basically said he needs to be patient and learn, and get used to the style of play here

Wemby definitely looks a little lost out there. Not sure if it's rust or just not being familiar with the SL squad after sitting out the CA Classic.

I do think they need to bring in a competent PG before the season starts. That's going to be pretty damn evident after his SL stint here tbh.

Wemby's length alone is enough for him to be at least 2nd All Defensive Team.

Offensive for him to excel, he sure need to be much stronger to make full use of his height and length to dominate

Kareem when asked his impression of Wemby: “he needs to learn how to play the NBA. He’s used with the European.” Dumbass. Wemby has all the fundamentals covered, and plays smart basketball. What he needs to get is to be NBA strong.

Wemby does not have enough space to operate because he’s playing with guys the Spurs found at an HEB parking lot. Defenders are coming at him as soon as he catches that ball.
