GOP was set to lose with any of the other 16 candidates. Trump gives them a nice excuse though.

GOP reaches ‘new level of panic’ over Trump’s candidacy
Turmoil in the Republican Party escalated Wednesday as party leaders, strategists and donors voiced increased alarm about the flailing state of Donald Trump’s candidacy and fears that the presidential nominee was damaging the party with an extraordinary week of
self-inflicted mistakes,
gratuitous attacks and
missed opportunities.
Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus was described as “very frustrated” with and deeply disturbed by Trump’s behavior over the past week, having run out of excuses to make on the nominee’s behalf to donors and other party leaders, according to multiple people familiar with the events.
Meanwhile, Trump’s top campaign advisers are struggling once again to instill discipline in their candidate, who has spent recent days lurching from one controversy to another while seemingly skipping chances to go on the offensive against his Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton.
“A new level of panic hit the street,” said longtime operative Scott Reed, chief strategist for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
“It’s time for a serious reset.”
Trump allies on Wednesday publicly urged the candidate to reboot, furious that he has allowed
his confrontation with the Muslim parents of dead Army Capt. Humayun Khan to continue for nearly a week.
They also are angry with Trump because of his
refusal in an interview with The Washington Post on Tuesday to endorse two of the GOP’s top elected officials — House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (Wis.) and Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) — ahead of their coming primary elections.

Clint Eastwood says the Democrats used the Gold Star family as pawns at the convention.
We got Clint leaving Craig's in WeHo Wednesday night, and he had criticism for both parties. He clearly thinks Trump crossed the line in his now-famous feud with the Khan family, but he thinks the Dems share in the blame for putting the grieving family on display for political gain.

GOP Nightmare Scenario
Today we have three new state polls each showing big leads for Clinton.
Michigan (Clinton +9),
Pennsylvania (Clinton +11),
New Hampshire (Clinton +15).
To be clear, these are all blue or purple states.
Dems should be winning these, especially Michigan and Pennsylvania. (Though they come on the heels of polls that put Georgia and Arizona into the toss-up category.)
But these are big leads.
And in New Hampshire, at least in this poll, Trump's woes appear to have pushed Hassan in a big lead (+10) over GOP in bent Kelly Ayotte.

Trump’s attempts to win over Latinos all but over after ‘Hispanic outreach’ effort implodes
Ileana Garcia, who formed the Latinas for Trump group and who said she planned to serve as the Trump campaign’s national Latino spokeswoman.
The Trump campaign was apparently not happy that she said she would serve as a spokeswoman before anything was finalized, and a Florida campaign official eventually told her to “do whatever the f*ck you want” because “I don’t know what I’m going to do with you, anyway.”
Additionally, Trump’s plan to do a “Hispanic engagement tour” have been tossed aside after a series of cancelled events with Hispanic business leaders.
“I think they couldn’t get enough people to come to the event because their support among Hispanic voters is 14%, what do they expect?” Artemio Muniz, a Texas Republican who opposes Trump, tells BuzzFeed.

Trump Mistakenly Claims He Saw Video Of Cash Being Delivered To Iran
Donald Trump appeared to claim Wednesday that he saw footage of American cash being unloaded off of a plane in Iran, but
the video he seems to be referencing shows hostages from Iran arriving in Geneva, Switzerland,
the Washington Post reported.
While reporting on the $400 million payment from the United States to Iran that was part of a settlement for a failed decades-old arms deal, Fox News played footage that's been labeled as the scene of American hostages arriving in Geneva in January, according to the Washington Post.
But during a rally in Daytona Beach, Florida, Trump seemed to think that the footage was taken in Iran.
"Remember this: Iran — I don't think you heard this anywhere but here — Iran provided all of that footage, the tape of taking that money off the airplane,"
Trump said, according to the Post. "Right?"

Wrong!
Trash!
Trash supporters!
Is Trump revealing secret information, or is he hallucinating?
Donald Trump on Wednesday described vivid details from a video he said he had watched earlier in the day of Iranian officials unloading cash from an airplane. The money was part of a payment, announced earlier this year, from the U.S. to Iran to settle a decades-old dispute over an incomplete weapons sale.Trump described the video as being very clear, steady, and good quality. Trump also stated that the tape had been released to “embarrass America.”
“Over there, where that plane landed, top secret, they don’t have a lot of paparazzi, you know,” Trump said. “The paparazzi doesn’t do so well over there.” But “they have a perfect tape, obviously done by a government camera, and the tape is of the people taking the money off the plane. It’s a military tape. It’s a tape that was a perfect angle, nice and steady.”
The trouble is … there is no such tape. Not publicly anyway. So if Trump is describing an actual tape, it’s one that only he saw, possibly as part of a briefing.

Trump Allies Plot Candidate Intervention After Disastrous 48 Hours
Key Republicans close to Donald Trump's orbit are plotting an intervention with the candidate after a disastrous 48 hours led some influential voices in the party to question whether Trump can stay at the top of the Republican ticket without catastrophic consequences for his campaign and the GOP at large.
Republican National Committee head Reince Priebus,
former Republican New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani and
former House Speaker Newt Gingrich
are among the Trump endorsers hoping to talk the real estate mogul into a dramatic reset of his campaign in the coming days

Republicans think Trump might quit — so they’re scrambling to find a replacement: ABC News
Republican officials are so angry at Donald Trump and his imploding campaign that they’re considering replacing him at the top of the ticket just two weeks after nominating him.
Jon Karl, the chief White House correspondent for ABC News, reported Wednesday morning that Republican officials were scrambling to plan for the possibility that Trump might suddenly quit the presidential race.
“This is absolutely unprecedented,” Karl reported. “First of all, I am told RNC chairman Reince Priebus is furious, that he has had multiple discussions with Trump telling him he needs to drastically change course. But here’s the news, I am told senior officials at the party are actively exploring what would happen if Trump dropped out, how to replace him on the ballot.”
Karl said the Republican Party could not force Trump out of the race now that he’s their nominee, but he might solve their problem by dropping out.
“He would have to go out voluntarily, then it would be the 168 members of the RNC, through a complicated process, that would pick a new candidate,” Karl said. “It would have to happen by early September.”
A stunned George Stephanopoulos, the Good Morning America host, asked if that was a real possibility.
“He is so unpredictable right now, they are so unable to control his message, that they just don’t know and clearly think it is a possibility, which is why they’re looking at these rules,” Karl said.

Paul Ryan: ‘The Comments Donald Trump Will Make Over The Next Few Months Are Regrettable’
WASHINGTON — Saying he will be shocked and saddened by the statements of his party’s presidential nominee, Speaker of the House Paul Ryan told reporters Thursday the comments Donald Trump will make over the next several months are “highly regrettable.”
“I want to make clear that the remarks Donald Trump will say in the weeks ahead are unfortunate and do not reflect the views of the Republican Party,”
said Ryan, who noted that while he did not agree with the “harmful and divisive” language Trump would choose to use between now and the election, he believed he could work with the candidate to enact a strong conservative platform.
“Mr. Trump will take some distressing and morally indefensible positions during the remainder of his candidacy and, if the election goes as we hope, his presidency.
I trust that we can move on from these regrettable lapses in judgment that will continue on a regular basis and get back to the issues that matter.”
Addressing recent inflammatory comments made by the GOP nominee, Ryan added that he just had a productive conversation identical to the dozens more he will have over the next three months with Trump.

D.N.C. HEADQUARTERS MOBBED BY REPUBLICAN REFUGEES SEEKING ASYLUM
WASHINGTON, D.C. — A humanitarian crisis has been unfolding over the past week as Republican refugees seeking asylum have overrun the Democratic National Committee headquarters, in Washington, D.C.
D.N.C. staffers have confirmed that they were woefully unprepared for the masses of desperate Republicans who have shown up at the D.N.C.’s door, looking for safe harbor.
“These people have been brutalized for months and have decided to risk everything to save themselves and their families,”
D.N.C. staffer Tracy Klugian said.
“When they tell you their stories, they are absolutely heartbreaking.”
Meg Whitman, who is sixty, said she left her entire life as a Republican behind after
witnessing unspeakable horrors under the new G.O.P. regime.
Taking comfort from a blanket and a cup of coffee provided by D.N.C. staffers, Whitman appeared to be in a state of shock about where life under a failed state had brought her.
“I never thought I’d find myself in a place like this,” she said as she took in the unfamiliar surroundings of the D.N.C. headquarters. “Still, anything has to be better than where I came from.”
When asked if she had any regrets about her decision to flee, Whitman choked back tears before responding. “I had no choice,” she said. “There is no respect for human life there.”

Clinton surges to big lead in McClatchy-Marist poll
Hillary Clinton has surged to a 15-point lead over reeling, gaffe-plagued Donald Trump, according to a new McClatchy-Marist poll.
Clinton made strong gains with two cons uencies crucial to a Republican victory – whites and men — while scoring important gains among fellow Democrats, the poll found.
Clinton not only went up, but Trump went down. Clinton now has a 48-33 lead, a huge turnaround from her narrow 42-39 advantage last month.
By their own base? Their nomination is single-handedly blowing this election. This is why the party leaders didn't want this clown to win the nomination because they knew he was terrible enough to lose this election to Shillary.
