you are the only ”christian” I've ever heard completely dismiss the Old Testament.

From school, preachers, televangelists, sunday school, and any website I've ever been to, you are the only one.

    Good job making up, idiot.

If being against child murder is narrow-minded and shallow, then I guess I am narrow-minded and shallow.

Have fun thinking you are better than I am because you worship a murderous tyrant, though.
I don't think I'm better than you. I don't think on those lines. i def think you have no idea what you're talking about. Enjoy the little world you live in where you aren't willing to learn cultures but still willing to talk of them like you know what you're talking about.

Sure unless you 'minister' or otherwise proselytize. I think at that point it goes well beyond 'myself and my family' and I think it justified to speak against it.

If someone comes on here and starts talking about the flat earth nonsense then I am going to talk to them as well. Quite frankly if your beliefs cannot bear scrutiny then that speaks to the merit of said beliefs from where I sit.
    Yeah that makes sense.

I was raised a Christian, dumb . But unlike you, I saw it for the bull that it was, so I stopped believing in it.

And I know what I am talking about. I provided evidence to support my claim, while you haven't done . Maybe if you keep acting like those verses I posted from your holy book don't exist, they might actually disappear.

right, you pick and choose what you like and are dismissing the stuff you don't like.

aside from the historical parts, that gives none of it credibility.

    How convenient.

From reading the Bible I get that Jesus rejected the OT version of sacrifice to gain the favor of God. To the contrary he was very explicit about it. I never got the impression that at any point Jesus or Paul who wrote the preponderance on the doctrine just gave carte blanche to the rest of it. Quite the contrary.

Christianity as convenience never appealed to me.
Are you implying I am changing my views to win an online forum discussion? Come on FL. None of it as in none of the laws. But Jobs is a great book. Psalms and Proverbs are ones I read too. But the first five aren't normally used for daily life rules.
BTW alot of what you three are bringing up is what the high priests were trying to attack Jesus with, which is in the NT. Also Jesus revises almost all the rules to live by. That is why Chistians isn't just a different denomination of Judaism.

Furthermore, christianity has been understood through convenience since the day after Jesus rose from his tomb.

I've known plenty of people who grew up christian and never read the bible. so what?? I grew up with atheists and decided to go to church on my own.
I don't see how I haven't done anything. You keep misrepresenting jesus and talking about him like you haven't the faintest idea what you are talking about. I'm not acting like those verses do not exist. But you keep thinking that Jesus came to earth for s and giggles. I guess your google toolbar helped you find something people don't know about. Meanwhile you still do not know wtf you are talking about.

I'm not saying that you are changing your views to win an online discussion. I am saying that a blanket dismissal of the OT on the basis of something in the NT is unjustifiable. Again, I know where Jesus spoke about sacrifice and how to achieve salvation. OTOH, I see no where to justify "All that OT stuff is no longer valid." I see a whole lot that indicates otherwise.

I don't see how you can read the gospels, the writings of Paul or Peter and come away with that you could. Perhaps you could point me to the versus that makes you think that you could.

acting like all the Old Testament magically doesn't count now
acting like that quote from Jesus where he states not to ignore the Old Testament doesn't count.

You are a confirmed dumb who has no idea what he is talking about. Do you think I haven't heard your excuse before? I probably know more about Christianity than you do, because you don't know about the Holy Trinity ( being a Christian and not knowing that Christians believe that Jesus is God).

Sure he did. When I'm talking about the laws on what it takes to get to heaven. All the things that must be done to get rid of sin. Jesus death and Resurrection ended that. So what I mean by dismissing the OT I mean the verbatim laws on how to live. Pretty much Deuteronomy and Leviticus and a few more. I never read that as a how to for living. Jesus said something about the spirit of the word as opposed to the law of the word and the spirit supersedes.

Right now we are just talking me. I read the bible and started going to church. So back to my views. I don't read Genesis as a complete historical reference. But I don't dismiss it as a man writing to explain things. Alot of christians think that is blasphemous.

a perfect God who makes outdated laws
pretending that verse from Matthew I posted doesn't exist

    Matthew 5:18-19.

I can bring up stuff from Peter or Paul but I think they are even more full of than the rest of it. I am really curious to how you get what you are saying.

And just to be clear, I do not buy the above verse any more than the rest of the fable but if you are going to tkae it on merit I just do not see how you can logically justify the discarding of the whle thing.

I'm not really sure what you are going for exactly? Why I believe in god? In Jesus? Why I look to the bible for answers in life?

I am making the assumption that you find the NT valid when you say that you can just dismiss what the OT says. I may be wrong with that; however, if the NT is not binding then I just wonder why you believe anything in the Bible whatsoever.

Are you saying that the above verse is not to be taken verbatim either? I think it's pretty evident what it means. I can bring up other stuff in Revelations, 1 Peter, and Romans as well that is also along those lines. All of the major writers of the NT held to that theme. I am just curious what authority you claim that makes the OT invalid if you hold the NT to be valid.

If the NT is also based on the believers whim as well then I really do not see the point of belief at all. I don't see that as belief in anything but yourself.
