He's 30. How is that finished?

Whatever, I expected to log in and see that everyone on ST hated the signing.
It's a very good signing. ST is like 72 percent player fan trolls. And 35 percent of that is like the same two or three people with eighty screen names. I don't know why the admin/mods don't do IP checks. Well, I do. They actually like the play theater bull .

Yes as a few have suggested, he's gonna play the 4. That's what OKC wanted him for too but they got taken out of the running when they signed Patterson.

    Murray/Green/Kawhi/Gay/Aldridge
    Patty/Simmons/????/Anderson/Gasol
    Forbes/White/Blossomgame/Bertans/????

If Manu comes back it'll be Simmons and Manu on the wings but if we have rookies it'll be Anderson and Bertans imo

With the roster setup, Hanga and Milutinov would round out the roster. So we letting Dedmon go and Lee most likely unless Milutinov stays over and Lee is there. He just wouldn't make sense unless we don't resign Pau

Exactly. The Spurs needed a playmaker, or a penetration guard, or a true 3-point shooter, Gay isn't any of that.

Where will be Spurs ball-movement when the 3 main scorers -Kawhi, LMA, Gay- are iso-players/mid-j shooters??

Can't believe the way that Pop is building this team...It's very disappointing.

Sadly, it seems like he'll start...
Good question.. I don't know. Maybe LMA is really going to get traded. I am not going to like that team...

Meh doesn't move the needle, but at the price it's a good deal. Hopefully he can come back strong after that injury, but it's unlikely. He's seldom been an efficient player even when healthy.

Bigger news is that it seems they'll stay over the cap.

Probably finished as a notable player, but pretty low risk at that price(along with having limited options, at this point), tbh..not a fan of this signing, overall, though..

    Sucks for Kyle, tbh..
Maybe he's traded tbh... one can hope.

Edit: but I do like Kyle better off the bench. IMO he doesn't do well with the ISO heavy SL. He's not the best floor spacer for others if that was his only role there. I didn't like it when he started for Danny due to that and it's really tough to play with LMA bc he doesn't move the ball. Not really disliking Kyle as a bench player tbh.

Pop needs to let him do his thing if it's going to work out. Sometimes I feel as if the Spurs around too much with the way their free agent signings play.
    Lamarcus would agree.

I just have a feeling of Pop wanting to fit square pegs into round holes ... I hope I am wrong. I am too jaded He might fit great. It's usually guys you don't expect much from that surprise you.

yup thought the same. If we were under the cap we would have signed him with cap space. So if he already signed it's the MLE from being over the cap. So we bringing the crew back. Most likely losing Dedmon maybe Lee. Hanga and Milutinov may be in.

But yeah it's resigning guys. It might be awhile cause of Simmons. He's really holding out. It seems he's like option C or D for teams with cap like New York and Brooklyn and they both just signed players to offer sheets so it may be another couple days at least before we get more clarity.

It's a similar crew but not exactly the same. They may play differently which intrigues me but I still think Lamarcus won't want to play center the entire season.

Hopefully now they give Pau his money back on a 1-year deal and be done with it.

This will be the most difficult test for the Rudy Gay challenge, tbh..it's a curse that has haunted every team he has played for(Sacramento didn't change, though)

    2005-2006 Grizzlies: 49-33
2006-2007 Grizzlies with Rudy Gay: 22-60

    2009-2010 Grizzlies with Gay: 40-42
2010-2011 Grizzlies with Gay missing the 2nd half of the season and playoffs: 46-36, famously embarrassing the 1 seed Spurs

2012-2013 Grizzlies after trading Rudy Gay: WCFS
    2012-2013 Raptors with Gay: 34-48

2012-2013 Raptors with Gay: missed playoffs
2013-2014 Raptors trade Gay: 48 wins, HCA in playoffs

2012-2013 Kings without Gay: 28 wins
    2014 Kings: 28 wins

    2017 Spurs: 61 wins
    2018 Spurs: ???
    Doesnt look good.
Hard to be excited what is it about him? IMO tends to be selfish at times... but really unsure how he managed that. ^

Depends how you look at it..there's a double-standard on this forum where people gushed over Simmons for his decent series vs. GS, yet ignore that Anderson played well against them in the same series(personally, I think it was clearly a meaningless series once Kawhi went down, but still, obvious double standard)..
I mean it's the same. Simmons had his best career game in game 2 with 22 points... Kyle had his best game in game 4 with 20/7/2/4... It might be meaningless in the grand scheme of things but Pop always learns things about players in these situations. In similar understaffed situations there were guys who had no heart to compete and there were others who were so clearly outmatched that scoring 20 points in such a game, meaningless though it might be was very well out of their capabilities. You always learn things about guys in such situations... the double standard is real. But it's tiring to always point it out. And guys also tend to be really touchy and assume I am ting on Simmons or someone else when one points it out.

He is not the player he used to be and Im sure the injury will set him back further. Lots of decent players have put up good numbers on bad teams. He is already a huge upgrade over Manu, though. At least we can say we improved in that area.
Watch Manu still come back though....
    The team wants him back.

So do we think Murray is getting packaged up in a trade, and that's why he mysteriously didn't play tonight?
I wondered about that and also, I don't think LMA acquiesced to be a full time center. It's one thing to be that occasionally in some matchups than be That full time bc Pop didn't get anyone else on purpose.

I don't yet but it's bc the SL looks very weird to me with LMA at center full time and 2 other Iso, midrange shooters in it. I don't see this fit but bottom line I am glad he was signed. Low risk, potentially high reward and its a short deal so I don't dislike it. I didn't expect much of Lee and he played very well. It's better to not expect much and be pleasantly surprised so I am starting to think he could be surprised positively.

I like it. Kinda low risk - decent contract with a big chance he'll opt out, and high reward - he's a classy guy, won't create problems, can score as the backup 3 and stretch 4 and bring some much needed offensive firepower. I wanted him all along if it wasn't gonna be Iguodala and I thought it was obvious Iggy wouldn't leave GSW. Intrigued to see a lineup of LMA, Gay, Kawhi, Green, Simmons (if he's resigned) that's full of offensive and defensive potential.

Well done by PATFO now need to move on bring back Simmons, Manu, Gasol, and fill out the rest of the roster with some young guys or vets. We are desperately in need of some big bodies and there are many bigs still available, most importantly they shouldn't be immobile stiffs... Younger guys like Willie Reed, Dedmon are still available and older vets like David Lee could be brought back. It does seem Pop may be ready to embrace the going small approcach, and we should be ready to see guys like Bertans and Kyle get some quality minutes at the 4 possibly.
