Article on Fedor's free agent status...

I agree with everything Jake said. I don't care what happens, if Fedor demands to fight in Sambo I don't blame the UFC for not signing him.

    http://www.sherdog.com/news/articles.asp?n_id=8530

Its makes no sense to invest in an athlete and risk his injury and waste your advertising dollars on another company to benefit. As much as I want to see him fight in the UFC it can't come at too high of a cost.

But I also don't blame Fedor's camp for trying everything they can to get everything they want. But they are seriously risking his legacy here.

Ah the radio network…I listen to them all the time on my ipod.

    Stephen Quadros show is good.

Jorden Breen is a genius but he is not a very good radio host. He sounds like the girl from American Wedding in the way he talks.

The Savage Dog show is not that great. Sherwood is awful and Savage is average.

But "The Beatdown" with TJ is one of the best radio shows period. TJ is a natural radio host.

LEONARD and I will probably disagree with this on the Dana issue and I am curious what his whole opinion is on this.

But here is my take. Dana and Sherdog split because nearly everyone involved with Sherdog has huge egos and that did not mesh with Dana's huge ego. The initial split was everyones fault probably and resulted in their credentials getting pulled.

But as time went on Sherdog got more and more petty about the issue and as they kissed PRIDE's butt more and more they became HEAVILY biased against the UFC.

At one point one of the radio hosts Josh Gross (who is an excellent columnist) revealed the winners of the ultimate season 4 and ruined the whole season. That’s when things got worse. Sherdog is an excellent site and they do great work on non UFC coverage but they are so biased I do not take any critism they have of the UFC seriously. If you want fairly neutral coverage of the UFC check out mmaweekly.com.

Sherdog is not so much a news site IMO, it is an editorial page.

I think that's a pretty good summary by Evan...

It's not so much "Sherdog" as it is certain guys there, who happen to be the guys that have been there the longest. I don't think Quadros or Breen has any beef with the UFC.

and I listen to almost all of the radio shows throughout the week...

My point exactly. Its not the best choice for mma for them to be considered the "interpretation of MMA."That is what ESPN is saying by having them do their work for them.

So once again, mmaweekly.com is in my opinion the finest mma site around. They don't have as many write ups and videos but their news is solid, clean, complete and as unbiased as it gets in sports media. I wonder what the decision process was to pick sherdog over them.

CBSsports.com and the Houston chronicle online (http://www.chron.com/) are rising stars in mainstream(unbiased) mma media and don't get recognized enough.

Sherdog is great for what it is, an editorial page. And when it comes to editorial MMA sites, they are the best.

    Priscila Belfort's Murderer Confesses

    Wednesday, August 08, 2007
    by Sherdog.com Staff

The kidnapper and eventual murderer of Priscila Belfort, sister of popular mixed martial artist Vitor Belfort (Pictures), confessed to authorities on Monday, according to Brazilian media.

Elaine Paiva, 27, admitted to kidnapping and murdering Belfort after receiving money when the gang she worked under was dissatisfied with ransom negotiations.

Palva was arrested along with three others alleged to be involved in the kidnapping that took place in January 2004.

Police are going search for the body on a small farm near Rio, where Belfort is said to have been buried.

Sad story about Belfort's sister...there's no telling what he could've done in MMA had that not happened. Definitely had a huge impact on his career...

and Kid Yamamoto is still on the LW top 10, which he shouldn't be. I don't think he's even 145 lbs when he fights. They should've removed him from LW and put him on the FW list...

Franca tells the truth and never denies anything and gets screwed...can't even corner guys during his suspension...and is ripped by Dana White on ESPN.com...

White: That's one of the dumbest things ever said. He said he twisted his ankle. It happens all the time. He called us and said he was hurt. Two days later, he said he could fight. Nobody is ever forced to fight. I can go down the list and tell you 50 guys who've pulled out of fights because of an injury.

Sherk denies and delays his hearing...and Dana supports him fully and spouts off BS about the levels he tested for not being that high in the same article he rips Franca in...

White: I've known Sean Sherk for a long time. He's a really good man. He trains hard and has worked hard to get where he's at. You and me probably have six nanograms [of the steroid Nandrolone] in our system; he had 12. Other guys who've been busted for the same steroid have had over 50 nanograms in their system. What my experts tell me is, there's no way that he would only have 12 in his system.

and James Toney goes to his hearing and cusses the commission and ends up getting his suspension reduced to just 6 months!!
    http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-...ck=1&cset=true

Former three-time world champion Toney, whose 2005 victory over World Boxing Council heavyweight champion John Ruiz was ruled a no-contest after Toney tested positive in New York for the steroid nandrolone, defeated Danny Batchelder by split decision May 24 in San Jose. Afterward, he tested positive for two steroids, including boldenone, a fat-reducing medication for horses prescribed only by veterinarians.

Commissioner Dr. Chris Giza met Toney's defense with skepticism, asking, "What evidence exists beyond this hypothetical [contamination]?"

When Commissioner Julio Ramirez suggested Toney receive a reduced 120-day suspension, Giza motioned for the full year to be upheld, adding, "Modifications require clear rationale." Ramirez admitted he was swayed by Toney's 78-fight career to give the boxer the "benefit of the doubt," to which Giza argued, "So, you're saying any athlete with a high profile" gains a suspension reduction? Ramirez answered no.

Commissioner Peter Lopez then suggested a 180-day suspension for Toney, which will expire toward the end of November, and six commissioners voted to approve it, with only Giza voting no.

    What a bunch of BS...

I wonder how you sort that mess out....

I love Dana and I support him but I sometimes wonder if he needs more help and this thing has out grown him in what he can do.

Same thing happened in Dallas with Jerry Jones. He brought the Cowboys and the NFL to new levels never dreamed of. He had a lot of say in the league, players union, FOX sports and of course the Cowboys.

The league exploded along with the Cowboys and grew out of his control, things started getting screwed up and he had to relinquish control to others. Just too much to do.

BJ Penn for UFC 78 Nov 17th, 2007
    http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/...4297&zoneid=14

Nothing ground breaking here but MMAweekly typically does not post rumored fights unless something is fairly concrete. So this tells me the UFC are fully preparing for Sherk to get stripped and are going forward with an up for grabs fight.

Just a little firmness to everyones "my best guess"
