It's cooler in the shade. Thanks science.

The Trump EPA is about to gut clean air enforcement. He's currently shaking down universities and cancelling scientific research grants en masse
Advantage, pseudoscience
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/...-change-reportOn Tuesday, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced a proposal to undo the 2009 “endangerment finding”, which allows the agency to limit planet-heating pollution from cars and trucks, power plants and other industrial sources. Hours later, the Department of Energy (DOE) published a 150-page report defending the proposal, claiming scientific concern about the climate crisis is overblown.
“Climate change is a challenge – not a catastrophe,” wrote the energy secretary, Chris Wright, in the report’s introduction.

The energy department published the report hours after the EPA announced a plan to roll back 2009’s “endangerment finding”, a seminal ruling that provided the legal basis for the agency to regulate climate-heating pollution under the Clean Air Act. If finalized, the move would topple virtually all US climate regulation.

The decision, announced by Energy Secretary Chris Wright during a CNN appearance Tuesday night, follows the government's revocation of the Endangerment Finding, a scientific determination that underpins a host of regulations aimed at curbing greenhouse gas emissions.
Asked by CNN's Kaitlan Collins why previous editions of the National Climate Assessment were no longer available online, former fracking company CEO Wright responded: "Because we're reviewing them, and we will come out with updated reports on those and with comments on those."
First published in 2000, the National Climate Assessment has long been viewed as a cornerstone of the US government's understanding of climate science, synthesizing input from federal agencies and hundreds of external experts.

...
China (where plug-in vehicles have nearly half the market) gets most of the attention, but neighboring Vietnam isn’t far behind: Pure-play EV-maker VinFast Auto Ltd. accounted for more than a third of car sales in the first half of this year. Turkey’s 13% sales share for fully electric vehicles in the first quarter was about double the penetration rate in Spain and Australia, according to a survey by Strategy&. In Indonesia, the share was about the same as in the US, at 7.4%. In Malaysia, it was 8.6% in the first half.
Those countries all have legacy car industries still pumping out internal combustion engines. Things are moving even faster in nations wholly dependent on imports. More than three-quarters of the value of vehicles brought into Nepal, Sri Lanka and Djibouti last year was purely electric. Import shares in Ethiopia and Laos were 40% and 30% respectively1. Plug-in sales increased by 60% in developing countries as a whole in 2024, according to the International Energy Agency.
As with the wave of EVs taking over the Gulf’s oil producers, it’s a sign of a world switching to electric mobility with breathtaking speed. The pace of the change makes the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, which expects developing economies’ oil consumption to increase by half by 2050, look deluded.

The stronger argument for the resilience of road fuel at this point isn’t that emerging markets are going to start using more of it. It’s clear this battle is already being lost. Instead, it’s that rich countries have raised tariff barriers, bungled charger rollouts, and loosened fuel-economy rules to the point where they’ve sabotaged their own transition plans.
That’s giving in bent carmakers a chance to eke a few more years out of their obsolete businesses, while compe ors in the Global South seize the technological lead. Most of the world is already taking advantage of cleaner, cheaper road transportation. By the time developed countries realize how far they’ve fallen behind, it will be too late to catch up.
Big lost opportunity

Electric cars outsold traditional gas-powered passenger vehicles for the first time in Europe in December of last year, marking a huge shift in the regional car market. Despite a proposed loosening of the upcoming 2035 gas car ban, Europeans bought over 300,000 EVs last month, boosting the year-over-year figures by a solid 50% and overtaking gas cars, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA).

remember when you said there would never be enough electricity for EVs and you'd be forced to buy $50 light bulbs?
There won't be enough electricity for EVs, if everyone adopted them. They really suck in sub freezing temps.
Look at the outlays for your AI the next decade.
Tell me how that compares.
Prove it.
