There have been reports since before all star break that he may be dealing with a sports hernia. He keeps trying to play through it but is always out after one game. So it looks like he would need to get the surgery.

Dude...I can't believe you think Glenn Robinson and Drew Gooden are similar players. Glenn Robinson was a very intelligent player and was gifted with the probably the best J to hit the NBA in last 30 years and he had about as polished a skill set in all aspects of the game as you could get...Glenn Robinson could always play D, intelligent D, when he wanted, he could do just about anything when he wanted.....he just didn't want to do it all very often.

Drew Gooden is an asshat that couldn't play at the level an inattentive Robinson could play at even if he was trying...the fact that he doesn't try may speak poorly of his at ude, but get serious...he doesn't have the pure basketball IQ or skillset that Robinson had, and he never will.

Read what I said again. I said they would have similar roles. Not that they are similar players. In fact, they are pretty much exact opposites.

Gooden being 27 is hyped way too much. He's only a rental for the rest of the season. Spurs get a fourth big, Gooden gets a chance to show teams he can contribute in a deep playoff run and bolster his case for why he should be paid in full this summer. Then the Spurs let him go and sign a better bigman in either Wallace or McDyess with their MLE.
