Niklas Lidstrom was a 3rd round pick, Datsyuk a 6th, Zetterberg a 7th.

Wings were going to draft Bure, but the Canucks got leaked info from the Wings camp and drafted him one spot before the Wings.

Going down the draft road is a scary prospect. You have to look at it like this...

The Wings passed on Datsyuk 5 times before selecting him. They passed on Zetterberg 6 times. Its a crapshoot, unless youre drafting in the top 5, sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you fall on your face. Even a top5 pick is no guarantee (Daigle, Stefan, etc.).

But yeah, Ive watched Philly more this year than any previous year and Mike Richards is the man. I see why he wears the "C" on his chest and Pronger does not. He is a dandy player, very physical and determined every shift.

It's impossible to see the future, and it was hard not to pick AK46 because he is very talented
