That was like their first playoff game since the Bosh days and the team sort of emerged out of nowhere. Perhaps you are right but I don’t believe this video to be evidence one way or the other.

I think a big reason for a lot of empty seats is that Spurs fans take the regular season for granted. Everyone is used to the Spurs making the playoffs. SA is all Spurs since there's really no other top tier sports franchises. Almost everyone keeps up with the spurs. Of course it doesn't have the history of the Lakers or Celtics but there's still a close connection between the city and the team/players.

This statement is so wrong. San Antonio is one of the best NBA basketball towns. I get the criticism about better cities to live in. There are signs everywhere during the playoffs. It’s the Spurs then everything else. Toronto will always be a hockey town. It’s a great opportunity if you can win there.

San antonio always has been a basketball city... The hemisphere arena was a ruckus in the late 70's 80's... Whoever says otherwise is neither a resident nor has visited san antonio obviously... Go to a bar on game day.. Dont rock a laker, rocket, or mavs jersey in any bar downtown you might get knocked out, literally... Dont let the television fool you.. The upper deck is rowdy with true fans.. Unlike the lower bowl, those are owned by different corporations.....
