I think the minuses of small ball outweighed the positives in this series.

We have too many guys who aren't the greatest defensive players. Barry, Finley, NVE

We can't expect the defense of latter years.
It's not the players, it's the scheme. The Spurs win with two 7 footers clamping down the paint while the guards shut down the outside and funnel guys to drive right into the height. This small lineup is defensively killing us because dampier or diop just go out to take TD away from the basket and that opens the middle up. In the NBA guys will be able to get to the basket, but you have to have the team D to shut them down at it. Then they get frustrated and start taking contested jump shots. We've won three championships with that philosophy, but have not used it yet in this series. Besides, the lineups on the floor aren't used to playing together since they haven't all season. You can't expect them to magically be cohesive and play team D now.

If you think Manu hasnt shown up tonight then youre an idiot. Hes hustling on defense and doing his best to cause havoc on the court, and in my opinon, him and Finley seemed to be the only ones that felt like playing so far tonight.

I keep thinking we are trying to pull them in on foul trouble and kick ass in the 4th. PLEASE tell me POP knows this, too. Manu got sat down early so we can only expect it to ride on him later.

You may not want to hear this from a Mavs fan but.... Pop is not doing a good job.

The Spurs have plenty of talent to get the job done, Why else are they the defending NBA Champions?
I didn't think the game was over? Is it?

The first couple of minutes of the third will tell us how the Spurs finish the season.
    Yup.

The aggressor will win, as usual.

14 points isn't that big of a mountain to climb... if ya'll will remember we were down by 13 in either game 3 or 4 and we came back to take the lead. I don't see Dallas shooting this well the entire game... and if they do? well there isn't a single team in this league that can take the other team shooting so well and win. Spurs CAN pull this off... WILL they? we'll find out.

They have to make some type of adjustment to that quick double team their putting on Duncan. There doesn't seem to be any movement without the ball when they go 4 down, and Dallas doubles within a second. Can we get someone slash to the goal from time to time?
Exactly, it's real simple. As soon as your man leaves you cut to the freakin rim. I've seen one time where a player cut to the rim instead of standing on the perimeter and it ended up in a Ginobili dunk.

Tony is doin what he is doin, I just wished Pop wouldn't of kept Tony out so long cause NVE sucks

Have you ever watched basketball?...anything can happen this is the first half...You gotta believee...14 points is nothing..This was the perfect time to dispense of the fairweather fans .
Yeah, I never watched basketball.. despite the fact I play it.

14 points is nothing? That's a terrible thing to say because this isn't a scrubby team, this is a team that proved they can beat the Spurs on their own court by double digits. THAT is why 14 points is considered a big margin with no real room for error.

Props to Finley and Bowen....they've been the bright spots of that horrible first half.
Tony hasn't been perfect, but he's 5/10 from the field, 6/6 from the line, with 3 RB and 5 AST. That's a decent game for him, never mind a half.

The twin tower defense designed to let your man beat you...its entire advantage is that you play everyone up close and they give up the open shot for a drive, which is supposed to be met by a big.

The spurs wing men are trained to let their men beat them to the baseline, and that doesn't work if you don't have two bigs.

The wide open shots are there. Finley made one or two and Bowen has made two off of the double. Barry has missed one and passed up about three. They have to

    1) Shoot the open shots with confidence
    2) Make the open shots

If they can't make wide open shots then they don't deserve to win the game.

Manu took 3 shots, he got that dunk then missed a jumper and then when he got hammered to end the 2nd quarter and missed that shot

Manu HAS to start get it going

14 points is a lot to overcome, considering the Mavs are making everything.

Even if the Spurs are on fire on offense, it still won't mean much at all unless they play defense. Overcoming a big lead means you gotta step it up in all aspects.
